Keeping a Suzuki Splash on the road in Singapore

A used Suzuki Splash 1.2 in Singapore, costed: COE category, road tax and car insurance examples for one stated driver, dated October 2026.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Suzuki Splash is not on the new-car list now, so most Splash buyers look at used cars. If you own one or are thinking of buying, this page sets out the yearly costs that come with figures. It covers the COE, road tax and car insurance, and then the costs that hang on your own use.

The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are not a quote. Use them to see how far prices spread and what pushes them up or down.

The version priced

The new-car list has no entry for the Splash on sale now. That rules out a list price here. Our quote form carries one version:

  • Splash 1.2: 1,242cc

All figures below refer to it.

COE category

The Splash 1.2 has a 1,242cc engine. For that size, the price page says the COE category depends on power. It needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less. It needs a Category B COE if its power is more.

The October 2026 1st round closed at S$130,001 for Category A and S$130,100 for Category B. Those move each round, and the COE page has the latest. On a used Splash, the more useful number is how many years the COE has left.

Road tax

Road tax depends on engine size. At 1,242cc, LTA's formula gives S$532.94 a year, before any age surcharge. It was checked on 2026-10-19.

Older cars pay extra:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

Check the registration date on any Splash you look at, so you know which band applies. The road tax page has other engine sizes.

Insuring a Splash: the example

The Suzuki Splash price page prices this driver and car:

  • Car: Splash 1.2, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons

10 insurers price it online. Six on our panel do not, either because they have no online price yet or because the model is not on their online quote.

The lowest premium is S$569.36. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,132.32. That is S$562.96 more, or 99% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

So the top of the range is close to double the bottom. With fewer insurers in the field than for many cars, it pays to know which ones do price the Splash.

What the excess adds

The excess is your share of each claim. On this page no plan is without one. The excesses run from S$500 to S$3,000, with S$600 the most common figure. Plans at S$800 and S$2,500 sit in between. A lower premium can carry a higher excess, so read them as a pair.

How the price moves

The price page lists the lowest price when one thing changes, with the rest left alone:

  • No NCD (0%): S$880.64, S$311.28 more
  • 20% NCD: S$880.64, S$311.28 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$880.64, S$311.28 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$569.36, the same
  • New car, registered this year: S$586.41, S$17.05 more
  • Car 8 years old: S$545.00, S$24.36 less

Your NCD is the factor that matters most. Without it, the lowest price is 55% higher. At 20% NCD you pay the same as at none. A younger, less experienced driver lands at that figure too.

An older, long-licensed driver pays the same as the example driver. As a used car gets older, the lowest price drifts down a little. These are lowest prices only. Dearer plans can move by different amounts.

Against similar cars

The price page compares the Splash with six cars of about the same engine size. Each is priced for the same driver and car age:

Their average lowest price is S$688.21. The Splash comes in 17% below it. One of the six is cheaper to insure: the Toyota C-HR.

Other Suzuki models are on the Suzuki car insurance page.

Costs that depend on you

These turn on your own habits, so no single figure applies.

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and when you go out. Check your block's rate.
  • Petrol: set by how far you drive and the pump price.
  • ERP: set by your routes and the times you drive.
  • Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule. Tyres, brakes and a battery come up over the years. On a used car, ask what has been replaced and what is due.
  • Depreciation: depends on what you pay, the COE years left and what the car fetches at the end.

The yearly costs in short

For the Splash 1.2, dated as shown:

  • Road tax: S$532.94 a year, before any age surcharge (LTA's formula, checked 2026-10-19)
  • Insurance, example driver: from S$569.36 a year (20 October 2026)
  • Insurance, no NCD: from S$880.64
  • Insurance, car 8 years old: from S$545.00

For reference, the October 2026 1st round COE closed at S$130,001 (Category A) and S$130,100 (Category B).
