The Renault Scenic has been sold in Singapore with engines from 1.4 to 2.0 litres, so the costs depend a lot on which one you have. This page uses the 1.4, the version most insurers quote. It covers the COE rule, road tax and car insurance from 11 insurers, then the costs that depend on you.
The insurance figures were read on 20 October 2026 for one stated driver. They are examples only.
Four versions on our form
The new-car list we read has no Scenic on sale now, so there is no list price here. Our quote form carries four versions:
- Scenic 1.4: 1,390cc
- Scenic 1.5 dCi 105: 1,461cc
- Scenic 1.6 16v: 1,598cc
- Scenic 2.0 16v 140: 1,997cc
The insurance figures below are for the 1.4. Each bigger engine pays more road tax.
COE
For the Scenic 1.4, with a 1,390cc engine, the category depends on power:
- Category A if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less: S$130,001 in the October 2026 1st round
- Category B if it is more: S$130,100 in the same round
On a used Scenic the COE is already paid, and the years left are part of what you are buying. The COE page shows the latest round.
Road tax
LTA's formula gives the 1,390cc engine a road tax of S$619.74 a year, before any age surcharge. The road tax page has the figures for the other three engines.
Cars more than 10 years old pay a surcharge:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%

- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: at an authorised workshop, no add-ons
Who quotes
11 insurers give an online price. Five on our panel do not. Three have no online price for the model yet, one does not list it, and one lists it only with another engine or fuel type. The price page gives each reason.
The spread
The lowest premium is S$700.28 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,119.03, which is S$418.75 more, or 60% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
That is a narrower spread than on some cars, but it still runs to hundreds of dollars for the same cover.
The excess
No plan on this page carries an excess above S$800. Most carry S$600. Some carry S$500 or S$800, and one has none. Read each premium with its excess.
Some prices are marked as estimates. Confirm them on the insurer's own site, where you finish buying.
How the price moves
The price page shows the lowest price when one detail changes:
- No NCD (0%): S$970.88, S$270.60 more
- 20% NCD: S$970.88, S$270.60 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$970.88, S$270.60 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$700.28, the same
- A new car, registered this year: S$721.59, S$21.31 more
- A car 8 years old: S$642.42, S$57.86 less
No NCD, 20% NCD and the younger driver all land at S$970.88, 39% above the standard driver. The driver aged 65 pays the same as the standard profile. A new Scenic costs a little more to insure at the lowest price, and an 8-year-old one a little less. For the driver aged 65 and the new car, 10 insurers quote.
These are lowest prices only. Dearer plans may move by other amounts.
What to check
- Workshop: these prices assume an authorised workshop. Any-workshop plans may cost a different amount.
- Named drivers: for a family car, check who may drive and what adding a younger driver costs.
- NCD protection: an add-on on some plans, not in these prices.
- Right version: make sure any quote is for your car's engine, since one insurer lists the model only with a different one.
Against similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six similar cars:
- Mazda 3: S$927.36
- BMW X1: S$811.71
- Mercedes-Benz GLB: S$787.96
- Toyota Corolla Altis: S$642.42
- Honda Freed: S$642.42
- Toyota Sienta: S$604.07
Their average lowest price is S$735.99. The Scenic, at S$700.28, is 5% below it. Three of the six, the Corolla Altis, Freed and Sienta, cost less to insure. Other Renaults are on the Renault car insurance page.
Costs that depend on you
- Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and when out.
- Fuel: depends on the version, your mileage and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on your routes and the times you drive.
- Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule. On a used car, ask for the service record and check how easily parts are found.
- Depreciation: depends on what you pay, the COE years left and what you sell for.
