Renault Fluence in Singapore, yearly costs and insurance prices

Renault Fluence 1.5 dCi costs in Singapore: road tax, the COE category rule and car insurance from 14 insurers for one standard driver, dated.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

A Renault Fluence in Singapore today is a used-car purchase; the new-car list we read has none on sale. What it costs you each year comes down to road tax, insurance and how you use it. For this car, your NCD makes an unusually large difference to the insurance bill. This page shows the figures.

Insurance prices here are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are a guide, not your quote.

Two versions on our form

With no Fluence on the new-car list, there is no list price here. Our quote form has two versions:

  • Fluence 1.5 dCi: 1,461cc
  • Fluence 1.6: 1,600cc

The insurance prices are for the 1.5 dCi, the version most of our insurers quote. The 1.6 has a larger engine, so its road tax is higher.

COE

For the Fluence 1.5 dCi, with its 1,461cc engine, the COE category depends on power:

  • Category A if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less: S$130,001 in the October 2026 1st round
  • Category B if it is more: S$130,100 in the same round

When you buy used, the COE is part of the deal, so check its expiry date. The COE page has the latest round.

Road tax

LTA's formula gives the 1,461cc engine a road tax of S$661.38 a year, before any age surcharge. For the 1.6's figure, see the road tax page.

An age surcharge applies once the car is more than 10 years old:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

Insurance for the Fluence

The Renault Fluence price page prices this profile:

  • Car: Fluence 1.5 dCi, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: at an authorised workshop, no add-ons

Here's the spread

14 insurers price it, and two on our panel have no online price for it yet.

The lowest premium is S$660.69 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,610.16: S$949.47 more, or 144% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

That is a very wide range. The dearest insurer's lowest plan costs more than double the lowest premium.

The excess

The second-lowest premium carries a S$2,500 excess, against S$600 on the lowest. Most plans carry S$600. Others carry S$500 or S$750, a few S$2,500 or S$3,000, and one none. Weigh each premium against its excess.

Your NCD is worth a lot here

The price page shows the lowest price with one detail changed:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,442.54, S$781.85 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,112.75, S$452.06 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,241.26, S$580.57 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$660.69, the same
  • A new car, registered this year: S$666.79, S$6.10 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$604.07, S$56.62 less

With no NCD, the lowest price rises 118%, more than double. Even at 20% NCD the lowest price is well above the standard profile. A 27-year-old with 30% NCD pays a lot more too. For this car, a claim that costs you your NCD could cost far more over the following years than the claim itself.

By contrast, the driver's age at the older end and the car's age move the lowest price only a little. For the driver aged 65 and the new car, 13 insurers quote against 14.

These are lowest prices only. Dearer plans may move by other amounts.

What to check on a plan

  • NCD protection: some plans offer it as an add-on. Given the figures above, compare its cost with what losing your NCD would add. It is not in these prices.
  • Workshop: these prices assume an authorised workshop. Any-workshop plans may price differently.
  • Named drivers: check who may drive, and what a younger driver adds.

Against similar cars

For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six similar cars:

Their average lowest price is S$735.99. The Fluence, at S$660.69, is 10% below it. Three of the six, the Corolla Altis, Freed and Sienta, cost less to insure; the other three cost more. The Renault car insurance page has other Renault models.

Costs that depend on you

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and when out.
  • Fuel: depends on the version, your mileage and the pump price.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and the times you drive.
  • Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule. On a used Fluence, ask for the service record and check that parts are easy to source.
  • Depreciation: depends on what you pay, the COE years left and what you sell for.

Summary of yearly costs we can show
