The Renault Clio SPRT Tourer has an insurance pattern worth a close look. The lowest premium is higher than for most similar cars, but it barely moves when the driver's NCD drops. This page goes through those prices, the road tax and the COE, then the costs that depend on you.
All insurance figures are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are not a quote.
The version we priced
There is no Clio SPRT Tourer on the new-car list we read, so this page has no list price. Our quote form prices the Clio SPRT Tourer 1.5 dCi, with a 1,461cc engine.
COE
For the Clio SPRT Tourer 1.5 dCi, with its 1,461cc engine, the category depends on power:
- Category A if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less: S$130,001 in the October 2026 1st round
- Category B if it is more: S$130,100 in the same round
On a used car the COE is already paid. The years left on it are part of the value, so check them before you agree a price. The COE page has the latest results.
Road tax
LTA's formula sets road tax on the 1,461cc engine at S$661.38 a year, before any age surcharge.
Once the car is more than 10 years old, a surcharge applies:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The road tax page has the formula for other engine sizes.
Car insurance
The Renault Clio SPRT Tourer price page prices one profile:
- Car: Clio SPRT Tourer 1.5 dCi, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: at an authorised workshop, no add-ons
How many quote, and at what price
11 insurers give an online price. Five on our panel do not: four have no online price for the model yet, and one does not list it on its online quote.
The lowest premium is S$927.36 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,610.16. That is S$682.80 more, or 74% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
Excess levels
Most plans on this page carry S$600. Some carry S$500 or S$800, and one has no excess. None goes above S$800. Check the excess with each premium anyway; it is what you pay yourself on each claim.
Several prices are marked as estimates. Confirm those on the insurer's own site, where you finish buying.
An unusual price pattern
The price page shows the lowest price when one detail changes:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,003.16, S$75.80 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,003.16, S$75.80 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,003.16, S$75.80 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$985.91, S$58.55 more
- A new car, registered this year: S$955.19, S$27.83 more
- A car 8 years old: S$856.75, S$70.61 less
Here the no-NCD lowest price is only 8% higher. That is because the lowest price for the standard profile is already high, and a different insurer's plan sets the lowest price once the NCD falls. The 20% NCD and younger-driver lines land on that same figure.
An older driver pays more, not the same, and one fewer insurer quotes. An 8-year-old car is cheaper to insure at the lowest price. For a new car, 10 insurers give a price.
These are lowest prices only. Dearer plans may move by more.
Points to check on a plan
- Workshop: these prices assume an authorised workshop. Any-workshop plans may price differently.
- Named drivers: check who may drive and what adding a young driver costs.
- NCD protection: some plans offer it as an add-on, not included here.
Against similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page sets out six similar cars:
- Mazda 3: S$927.36
- BMW X1: S$811.71
- Mercedes-Benz GLB: S$787.96
- Toyota Corolla Altis: S$642.42
- Honda Freed: S$642.42
- Toyota Sienta: S$604.07
Their average lowest price is S$735.99. The Clio SPRT Tourer, at S$927.36, is 26% above it. Five of the six cost less to insure, and the Mazda 3 matches it exactly. Every one of the six is quoted online by at least as many insurers. For other Renaults, see the Renault car insurance page.
Costs that depend on the owner
- Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and on outings.
- Fuel: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on your routes and timing.
- Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule. On a used car, ask for the service record and check that parts are easy to get.
- Depreciation: depends on what you pay, the COE years left and what the car fetches later.
