The Renault Kadjar's most quoted version has a 1.2 engine, which keeps its road tax down. This page covers the costs we can put a figure on: the COE rule, road tax and car insurance from 14 insurers. It ends with the costs that depend on you.
The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. Your own premium depends on your details.
Versions on our form
The new-car list we read has no Kadjar on sale now, so there is no list price here. Our quote form carries three versions:
- Kadjar 1.2 TCe: 1,197cc
- Kadjar 1.3: 1,332cc
- Kadjar 1.5: 1,461cc
The insurance figures are for the 1.2 TCe, the version most of our insurers quote. The 1.3 and 1.5 have bigger engines and pay more road tax.
COE
For the Kadjar 1.2 TCe, with its 1,197cc engine, the COE category depends on power:
- Category A if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less: S$130,001 in the October 2026 1st round
- Category B if it is more: S$130,100 in the same round
COE premiums change every bidding round. On a used Kadjar, ask for the COE expiry date, since the years left are part of the price. The COE page has the latest results.
Road tax
LTA's formula gives the 1,197cc engine a road tax of S$506.54 a year, before any age surcharge. The road tax page has the figures for the 1.3 and 1.5.
The age surcharge applies once the car is more than 10 years old:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%

What the prices show
14 insurers price it online. Two on our panel do not: one has no online price for the model yet, and one does not list it.
The lowest premium is S$642.42 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,450.25. That is S$807.83 more, or 126% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
Lowest premium, different excess
The two lowest premiums are close, but their excesses are not. The lowest carries S$600 and the next S$2,500. Across the page, most plans carry S$600. Others carry S$500 or S$800, a few S$2,500 or S$3,000, and one has none. If you claim, the excess is yours to pay, so compare the two figures together.
How the price changes
The price page shows the lowest price with one detail changed:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,068.61, S$426.19 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,068.61, S$426.19 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,068.61, S$426.19 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$642.42, the same
- A new car, registered this year: S$660.69, S$18.27 more
- A car 8 years old: S$586.41, S$56.01 less
No NCD, 20% NCD and the younger driver all reach the same lowest price, 66% above the standard driver. An older driver pays the same as the standard profile. A new Kadjar costs S$18.27 more to insure at the lowest price, and an 8-year-old one S$56.01 less. For the driver aged 65 and the new car, 13 insurers quote.
These lines show the lowest price only. Dearer plans may move by other amounts.
Points to check on a plan
- Workshop: these prices assume an authorised workshop. A plan that allows any workshop may cost a different amount.
- Named drivers: check who may drive and what adding a younger driver does.
- NCD protection: some plans sell it as an add-on. It is not in these prices.
- Estimates: a few prices on the page are marked as estimates. Confirm them on the insurer's own site, where you finish buying.
Against similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six similar cars:
- Mercedes-Benz GLB: S$787.96
- Mercedes-Benz A-Class: S$787.96
- Mercedes-Benz GLA: S$787.96
- Honda Jazz / Fit: S$622.34
- Nissan Qashqai: S$590.12
- Toyota C-HR: S$552.91
Their average lowest price is S$688.21. The Kadjar, at S$642.42, is 7% below it. Three of the six cost less to insure, the Jazz, the Qashqai and the C-HR, and the three Mercedes-Benz models cost more. Other Renault models are on the Renault car insurance page, and the cheapest cars to insure page ranks models across makes.
Costs that depend on you
- Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and when out.
- Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on your routes and the times you drive.
- Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule, and plan for tyres, brakes and a battery over time. On a used car, ask for the service history.
- Depreciation: depends on what you pay, the COE years left and what the car fetches later.
