The Renault Latitude is a two-litre car, so its COE and road tax come at the higher rates. Its insurance comes in a little under the average of the similar cars on its price page. This page sets out what we can show, cost by cost.
The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. Your own figure depends on your details.
The version on our form
The new-car list we read has no Latitude on sale now, so there is no list price here. Our quote form prices the Latitude 2.0 16v, with a 1,997cc engine.
COE
With a 1,997cc engine, above 1,600cc, the Latitude 2.0 16v needs a Category B COE: S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
On a used car the COE is already paid. Its remaining years affect the asking price, so check the expiry date. The COE page has the latest round.
Road tax
Under LTA's formula, the 1,997cc engine pays S$1,208.58 a year, before any age surcharge. That is more than the lowest insurance premium for this car.
A surcharge applies once the car is more than 10 years old:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The road tax page has the formula for other engine sizes.
Car insurance for the Latitude
The Renault Latitude price page prices this profile:
- Car: Latitude 2.0 16v, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: at an authorised workshop, no add-ons
The spread
11 insurers price it. Five on our panel do not: four have no online price for the model yet, and one does not list it.
The lowest premium is S$811.71 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,417.70: S$605.99 more, or 75% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
So the same driver can pay a good deal more for the same car, depending only on where the policy comes from. With five insurers missing online, a direct quote from one of them may be worth asking for, so you have a fuller set of prices to compare.
The excess
The lowest premium carries a S$600 excess. The next carries S$2,500. Most plans carry S$600, some S$800, a few S$2,500 or S$3,000, and one has none. When two premiums are close, the excess can decide which costs you less over a claim.
Several prices are marked as estimates. Confirm those on the insurer's own site.
How the price changes
The price page shows the lowest price when one detail changes:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,083.50, S$271.79 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,083.50, S$271.79 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,083.50, S$271.79 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$811.71, the same
- A new car, registered this year: S$836.07, S$24.36 more
- A car 8 years old: S$742.90, S$68.81 less
No NCD, 20% NCD and the younger driver all give the same lowest price, 33% above the standard driver. The driver aged 65 pays the same as the standard profile, with one fewer insurer quoting. A newer car costs a little more at the lowest price and an older one a little less. For a new car, 10 insurers give a price.
These are lowest prices only. Dearer plans may move by other amounts.
What to check in a plan
- Workshop: these prices assume an authorised workshop. Any-workshop plans may price differently.
- Named drivers: check who may drive and what a younger driver adds.
- NCD protection: an add-on on some plans, not included in these prices.
- Car age: on an older car, check that each insurer still quotes it online.
Against similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six similar cars:
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
- Lexus RX: S$972.39
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- BMW 5 Series: S$861.03
- Toyota Voxy: S$793.75
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
Their average lowest price is S$867.25. The Latitude, at S$811.71, is 6% below it. Two of the six, the Voxy and the Harrier, cost less to insure. The other four cost more. For other Renaults, see the Renault car insurance page, or compare across makes on the cheapest cars to insure page.
Costs that depend on you
- Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and when out.
- Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on your routes and the times you drive.
- Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule. On a used car, ask for the service record and check that parts are easy to get.
- Depreciation: depends on what you pay, the COE years left and the price you sell at.
