The Aveo5 is a version of the Chevrolet Aveo with a 1.4-litre engine. It is not on the new-car list, so this is a used-car question. What will one cost you each year? This page goes through road tax, COE and car insurance, with dated figures.
Insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are not a quote, and your own premium depends on your details.
The car priced
The new-car list has no entry for this model on sale now. So there is no list price, power or body type here.
Our quote form prices the Chevrolet Aveo5 1.4 DOHC (A), with a 1,399cc engine. It is the version most of our insurers quote.
Road tax
For the 1,399cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$625.02 a year. That was checked on 2026-10-19 and is before any age surcharge.
The surcharge applies after 10 years:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
Check the registration date on any Aveo5 you look at. The road tax page has sums for other engines.
COE
With a 1,399cc engine, the Aveo5 1.4 DOHC (A) needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less. It needs a Category B COE if its power is more.
In the October 2026 1st round, Category A closed at S$130,001 and Category B at S$130,100. Both change every round; the COE page has the latest.
On a used Aveo5, the COE is paid. The years left on it set how long the car can stay on the road.
Insurance for the standard driver
The Chevrolet Aveo5 price page prices:
- Car: Aveo5 1.4 DOHC (A), registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
11 insurers price the Aveo5 for that driver. The lowest premium is S$799.97 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,280.37. That is S$480.40 more, or 60% on top. Prices include 9% GST.
Five insurers on our panel have no online price for this model.
The excess
Most plans set a S$600 excess. One sets S$500 and three S$800. Three set S$2,500 and one S$3,000. One plan has no excess.
A S$2,500 or S$3,000 excess is a large share of a repair bill on an older car. Read it next to each premium.
How the price changes
The price page shows the lowest price when one detail changes:
- No NCD (0%): S$913.82, S$113.85 more
- 20% NCD: S$913.82, S$113.85 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$913.82, S$113.85 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$874.15, S$74.18 more
- A new car, registered this year: S$802.19, S$2.22 more
- A car 8 years old: S$754.05, S$45.92 less
On this car, the changes are smaller than on many others. Losing the NCD adds 14% at the lowest price. The younger driver lands on the same figure.
The older driver pays a little more. A new car is almost the same price as the 3-year-old one. An 8-year-old car is a little cheaper.
For a used buyer, that is helpful: on this car, the record of the driver moves the lowest price less than on many others. Keep in mind that these are the lowest prices only. The plan that is lowest at full NCD is not the one that is lowest without it, and other plans may move by much more.
Terms to compare
Beyond the premium, a few terms change what a plan gives you:
- Workshop: these prices assume an authorised workshop. Plans that allow any workshop may differ in price.
- Extra drivers: a younger named driver can push the price up.
- NCD protection: an optional extra on some plans.
- Excess: the amount you pay on each claim.

- BMW X1: S$811.71
- Mercedes-Benz GLB: S$787.96

Their average is S$735.99. The Aveo5 costs 9% more than that. Four of the six are cheaper to insure; the Mazda 3 and BMW X1 cost more.
Other Chevrolets are on the Chevrolet car insurance page. The cheapest cars to insure page ranks models across makes.
Costs we leave to you
Some costs depend on your own use:
- Parking: HDB or condo season parking, plus work and outings.
- Petrol: your distance and the pump price.
- ERP: your routes and hours.
- Parts and repairs: ask how easy parts are to find for an older car, and how long they take to arrive. Tyres, brakes and a battery come due.
- Depreciation: mostly the COE years left.
