The Aveo SASE is a 1.4-litre version of the Chevrolet Aveo, listed on our form as a 4DR. It is no longer on the new-car list, so any you find will be used. This page works through the yearly costs we can put a figure on.
Each insurance price is an example for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. It is a guide, not a quote. Your own premium depends on your details.
The versions priced
The new-car list has no entry for this model on sale now. There is no list price, power or body type on this page.
Our quote form lists two versions, both with the same engine:
- Aveo SASE 1.4 4DR: 1,399cc
- Aveo SASE 1.4 SS 4DR (A): 1,399cc
The figures are for the Aveo SASE 1.4 4DR, the version most of our insurers quote. Since both share the 1,399cc engine, the road tax is the same for each.
What insurance costs
The profile
The Chevrolet Aveo SASE price page prices:
- Car: Aveo SASE 1.4 4DR, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
The spread
13 insurers price it for that driver. The lowest premium is S$586.41 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,280.39. That is S$693.98 more, or 118% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
Three insurers on our panel have no online price for this model.
So the same driver could pay more than twice as much for the same car. Comparing is the simplest way to avoid paying the top of the range.
The excess
On this page the excess stays within a narrow band. Most plans set S$600. Three set S$500, two S$750 and three S$800. One plan has no excess.
That makes it easier to compare plans on premium. Still, check the excess on the plan you pick.
How the price moves
The price page shows the lowest price when one thing is different:
- No NCD (0%): S$926.54, S$340.13 more
- 20% NCD: S$926.54, S$340.13 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$926.54, S$340.13 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$586.41, the same
- A new car, registered this year: S$604.07, S$17.66 more
- A car 8 years old: S$545.00, S$41.41 less
The NCD is the main factor. Without it, the lowest price is 58% higher. A younger driver and a 20% NCD reach the same lowest figure.
The older driver pays no more than the 40-year-old. An 8-year-old car costs a little less to insure. Most SASE sedans on sale will be older still.
These are lowest prices. Dearer plans may move by other amounts.
The COE
With a 1,399cc engine, the Aveo SASE 1.4 4DR needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less. It needs a Category B COE if its power is more.
In the October 2026 1st round, Category A closed at S$130,001 and Category B at S$130,100. The COE page has the latest results.
For a used car, check how many COE years are left. When they run out, the COE must be renewed or the car deregistered.
Road tax
For the 1,399cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$625.02 a year. That was checked on 2026-10-19 and is before any age surcharge.
Older cars pay a surcharge:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The road tax page has sums for other engine sizes.
Other parts of a quote
A few terms shape a plan beyond its price:
- Workshop: these prices are for an authorised workshop. Some plans let you choose any workshop, at a different price.
- Who drives: adding a younger driver usually raises the premium.
- NCD protection: an extra some plans offer. Check the cost and terms.
- Excess: the sum you pay on each claim.
Against similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six similar cars:
- Toyota Corolla Altis: S$642.42
- Mazda 3: S$927.36
- Toyota Sienta: S$604.07
- BMW X1: S$811.71
- Mercedes-Benz GLB: S$787.96
- Honda Freed: S$642.42
Their average is S$735.99. The Aveo SASE is 20% below that, and none of the six is cheaper to insure.
Other Chevrolets are on the Chevrolet car insurance page, and the cheapest cars to insure page ranks models across makes.
Costs that depend on you
These have no single figure:
- Parking: HDB or condo season parking, plus parking elsewhere.
- Petrol: your mileage and the pump price.
- ERP: your routes and hours.
- Parts and servicing: ask how easy parts are to find for an older car, and who services it. Tyres, brakes and a battery come due over time.
- Depreciation: for a used car, mostly the COE years left.
