BMW X6 xDrive35i yearly costs and insurance in Singapore

What a used BMW X6 xDrive35i costs to keep in Singapore: road tax for 2,979cc, its Category B COE and dated insurance prices for one driver.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

Older BMW X6 models, such as the xDrive35i, turn up on Singapore's used-car market from time to time. If you are looking at one, the purchase price is only the start. This page goes through the costs that come round each year and what moves them.

Insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are a guide to the pattern of prices, not a quote for you.

The car on the price page

The new-car list has no entry for this model on sale now. So there is no list price, power or body type to show.

The price page prices the BMW X6 xDrive 35i, with a 2,979cc engine. That is the version most of our insurers quote, and every figure below is for it.

Road tax: a fixed yearly bill

For a 2,979cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$2,360.46 a year. It was checked on 2026-10-19 and is before any age surcharge.

An older X6 may already be in the surcharge bands, which start after 10 years:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

So check the registration date before you budget. The road tax page has the sums for any engine size.

The COE

With a 2,979cc engine, above 1,600cc, this car needs a Category B COE. Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.

That is the price of a fresh COE. On a used car, what counts is how many years remain. When the COE ends, the car must be deregistered or the COE renewed. The COE page has the latest bidding results.

Insurance

The details priced

The BMW X6 xDrive price page prices:

  • Car: X6 xDrive 35i, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no options

The range of prices

13 insurers price the car for that driver. The lowest premium is S$896.14. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$4,066.03. That is S$3,169.89 more, or 354% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

Three insurers on our panel have no online price for this model.

Note that the car on this page is 3 years old. An older X6 xDrive35i will be priced on its own age, so use the car-age changes below as a guide.

Excess levels

Most plans on this page set a S$600 excess. Three set S$500 and three set S$800. Three set S$2,500 and one S$3,000. One plan has no excess.

The excess is paid by you on each claim. Weigh it next to the premium.

The price with one change

Here is how the lowest price moves when one detail changes:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,586.87, S$690.73 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,509.30, S$613.16 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,586.87, S$690.73 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,063.53, S$167.39 more
  • A new car, registered this year: S$1,221.67, S$325.53 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$838.94, S$57.20 less

The NCD is the biggest factor, adding 77% at the lowest price when it is gone. The younger driver case reaches the same figure.

For a used buyer, the useful line is the 8-year-old car. It is a little cheaper to insure than the 3-year-old car on the page.

Each figure is the lowest price for that case. Other plans may move by more or less.

If someone else in the household will drive the car, ask each insurer how it prices them as a named driver. A younger or newer driver on the policy can change the premium as much as any line above.

Against similar cars

The price page compares six similar cars for the same driver and car age:

The six average S$1,214.63. The X6 xDrive 35i is 26% below that. Just one of them, the Infiniti, is cheaper to insure.

The BMW car insurance page covers other BMWs. For low-cost models across makes, see the cheapest cars to insure page.

Costs that vary by owner

A few costs depend on you, so no single figure fits:

  • Parking: HDB or condo season parking, plus parking at work and when you go out.
  • Petrol: a 3-litre engine, your mileage and the pump price.
  • ERP: your routes and the times you drive.
  • Repairs and servicing: older cars tend to need more parts over time. Ask for the service record and see what has been replaced.
  • Depreciation: on a used car, mostly a question of COE years left and what the car will fetch at the end.

The figures in short

For the BMW X6 xDrive 35i (2,979cc), dated as shown:

  • Road tax: S$2,360.46 a year before any age surcharge (LTA's formula, checked 2026-10-19)
  • Insurance, standard driver: from S$896.14 a year (20 October 2026)
  • Insurance, 20% NCD: from S$1,509.30
  • Insurance, no NCD: from S$1,586.87
  • Insurance, a car 8 years old: from S$838.94

A fresh Category B COE closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
