The BMW X4 xDrive35i has a 3-litre engine. In Singapore, that one fact pushes up its road tax and fixes its COE category. This page shows what those costs come to, then looks at car insurance for a typical driver.
The insurance figures are examples for one stated driver, as of 20 October 2026. Read them as a guide. Your own price will depend on your details.
The car and its engine
The new-car list has no entry for this model on sale now. So this page gives no list price, power or body type.
Our quote form prices the BMW X4 xDrive35i with a 2,979cc engine. That is the version most of our insurers quote.
Road tax comes first
Road tax for a 2,979cc engine is S$2,360.46 a year by LTA's formula, checked on 2026-10-19. That is before any age surcharge.
It is the largest yearly cost on this page that does not depend on you. It also climbs once the car passes 10 years:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The road tax page shows how smaller engines compare.
The COE
With a 2,979cc engine, above 1,600cc, the X4 xDrive35i needs a Category B COE. Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
That figure changes each bidding round, and the COE page has the newest result. On a used car, the remaining COE years matter more than the price paid at the start.
Car insurance for the standard driver
The BMW X4 xDrive35i price page prices one driver and car:
- Car: registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
For that driver, 12 insurers price the car. The lowest premium is S$1,021.38. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$4,066.03. That is S$3,044.65 more, or 298% on top. Prices include 9% GST.
Four insurers on our panel show no online price for this model. With fewer prices to compare, it is worth getting more than one quote.
Excess
The excess is what you pay on a claim before the insurer pays. On this page it runs from none on one plan to S$3,000 on another. Most plans set S$600. Others set S$500, S$800 or S$2,500.
Look at it beside the premium. For a car with costly parts, the excess you pay on a claim can be a real sum.
How much the price moves
Here is the lowest price with one detail changed:
- No NCD (0%): S$2,048.23, S$1,026.85 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,720.24, S$698.86 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$2,190.13, S$1,168.75 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,202.65, S$181.27 more
- A new car, registered this year: S$1,195.87, S$174.49 more
- A car 8 years old: S$949.12, S$72.26 less
On this car, the young driver case costs most. The lowest price rises by 114%, more than doubling. Losing the NCD comes close behind.
So if a younger family member will be the main driver, expect a much higher premium. The older driver and a new car add smaller sums. An 8-year-old car costs a little less to insure.
All of these are lowest prices. Other plans may move by different amounts.
The NCD figures show why a clean record is worth keeping. Each claim-free year adds to the discount, and one claim can take a large part of it away. Some plans offer to protect the NCD for an extra charge. Ask what that costs and what it covers before you decide.
Against similar cars
The price page compares six similar cars for the same driver and car age:
- Audi Q7: S$1,238.58
- Audi S4 Saloon: S$1,501.01
- Audi S5: S$1,238.58
- Audi S5 Sportback: S$1,238.58
- Audi SQ5: S$1,210.01
- Infiniti: S$861.03
The six average S$1,214.63. The X4 xDrive35i comes in 16% below that. Only one of them, the Infiniti, is cheaper to insure.
Among 3-litre cars of this kind, then, the X4 xDrive35i is towards the lower end at the lowest price. Other BMWs are on the BMW car insurance page. The cheapest cars to insure page ranks models across the market.
Costs that depend on you
These vary with use and address, so there is no single figure:
- Parking: season parking at home, plus office, mall and street parking.
- Petrol: a 3-litre engine, your distance and the pump price all play a part.
- ERP: depends on routes and hours.
- Servicing and wear: the maker's schedule, then tyres, brakes and a battery over time. Ask what any warranty covers.
- Depreciation: the fall in value over your years of ownership, tied to the COE.
