Before you take on a BMW X4 xDrive30i, it helps to see what it costs to keep each year. This page goes through road tax, the COE and car insurance. It then lists the costs that depend on you.
The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are not a quote. Your premium depends on your own age, record and car.
Which car is being priced
The new-car list has no entry for this model on sale now. There is no list price, power or body type to report.
The figures below are for the BMW X4 xDrive30i with a 1,998cc engine. That is the version most of our insurers quote on our form.
The insurance picture
One driver, one car
The BMW X4 xDrive30i price page prices these details:
- The car: registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- The driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years of driving
- The record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
The spread
14 insurers price the X4 xDrive30i for that driver. The lowest premium is S$840.90 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$3,756.07. That is S$2,915.17 more, or 347% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
That is one of the wider gaps you will see for a 2-litre car. Two insurers on our panel have no online price for this model yet.
Insurers set their own rates for each model. Some see a car like this as close to an ordinary family car. Others price it much higher. A single quote does not tell you where it sits.
Excess amounts
The excess is the part of a claim you pay. Most plans here set S$600. Some set S$500 or S$800. A few higher-priced plans set S$2,500, one sets S$3,000, and one plan has no excess.
Compare the excess as well as the premium. A low premium paired with a high excess moves cost onto the day you claim.
When the details change
The price page shows the lowest price when one thing is different:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,511.93, S$671.03 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,416.26, S$575.36 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,511.93, S$671.03 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$997.03, S$156.13 more
- A new car, registered this year: S$1,153.78, S$312.88 more
- A car 8 years old: S$786.13, S$54.77 less
No NCD is the costliest change, lifting the lowest price by 80%. A young driver with a short record ends up at the same figure.
A new car is dearer to insure by a fair margin. An 8-year-old car comes in a little below the page's lowest price.
These are the lowest prices for each change. Other plans may move by more or less.
It also matters who is named on the policy. If a younger driver will use the car often, ask how each insurer prices an added named driver. A plan that is low for you alone may not stay low once others are added.
The COE
With a 1,998cc engine, above 1,600cc, the X4 xDrive30i needs a Category B COE. In the October 2026 1st round, Category B closed at S$130,100.
Each bidding round sets a new price. Check the COE page for the latest. For a used car, look at the COE expiry date and the years left.
Road tax
For a 1,998cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$1,209.76 a year. It was checked on 2026-10-19 and is before any age surcharge.
The surcharge starts after the tenth year and rises each year:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The road tax page has the sums for other engines.
Next to its rivals
For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six similar cars:
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- Toyota Voxy: S$793.75
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
- Lexus RX: S$972.39
- Mercedes-Benz GLC: S$925.60
Their average lowest price is S$878.01. The X4 xDrive30i sits 4% below it, with 2 of the six cheaper to insure.

Costs that turn on how you live
These have no fixed figure, because they depend on you:
- Parking: HDB or condo season parking, plus what you pay at work and in town.
- Petrol: your distance and the pump price.
- ERP: the routes you take and the hours you travel.
- Maintenance: scheduled servicing, plus tyres, brakes and a battery as the car ages. Ask what any warranty or package covers.
- Depreciation: what the car loses in value, linked to its COE years left.
A used X4's service history can show what is already done and what may be next.
