The BMW X4 xDrive28i is now a used-market car in Singapore. If you are looking at one, the question is less about the sticker price and more about the yearly bills. This page lays out the ones we can put a number on.
Insurance figures here are examples for one stated driver, as of 20 October 2026. Your own quote depends on your details. Use these figures to see the pattern, not as the price you will pay.
The X4 xDrive28i on our quote form
The new-car list has no entry for this model on sale now. So there is no list price, power figure or body type on this page.
Our quote form prices the BMW X4 xDrive28i with a 1,997cc engine. It is the version most of our insurers quote, and the figures below are for that car.
Road tax at 1,997cc
Road tax in Singapore follows engine size. For 1,997cc, LTA's formula gives S$1,208.58 a year, checked on 2026-10-19. That is the base figure, before any age surcharge.
Once a car is more than 10 years old, the surcharge applies:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
Older X4s on the market may already be in these bands. The road tax page covers other engine sizes too.
The COE
With a 1,997cc engine, above 1,600cc, the X4 xDrive28i needs a Category B COE. Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
The price changes at every bidding round, and the COE page has the latest. On a used car, check the COE expiry date. It sets how long the car can stay on the road as it is.
Insurance for a typical driver
The BMW X4 xDrive28i price page prices one profile:
- Car: registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options added
For that profile, 14 insurers price the car. The lowest premium is S$840.90 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$3,266.15. That is S$2,425.25 more, or 288% on top. The prices include 9% GST.
Two insurers on our panel show no online price for this model yet.
The gap between low and high is large. The same driver can pay several times more for broadly similar cover, depending on where the policy is bought.
What the excess adds
The excess is your share of each claim. Most plans on this page set S$600. Others set S$500, S$800 or S$2,500, and one sets S$3,000. One plan has no excess at all.
If you are comparing two premiums that are close, look at the excess on each. It is the cost you meet when something goes wrong.
How the premium moves
The price page shows the lowest price with one detail changed:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,494.48, S$653.58 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,416.26, S$575.36 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,494.48, S$653.58 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$997.03, S$156.13 more
- A new car, registered this year: S$1,153.78, S$312.88 more
- A car 8 years old: S$786.13, S$54.77 less
Going without NCD is the costliest change: the lowest price is 78% higher. A 20% NCD helps only a little against that. Since the NCD builds up one claim-free year at a time, protecting it is worth thinking about.
Car age makes a clear difference on this model. A brand-new X4 xDrive28i costs a good deal more to insure than the 3-year-old car. An 8-year-old one costs a little less.
All of these are lowest prices. Higher-priced plans can change by other amounts.
Against similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page compares six similar cars:
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- Toyota Voxy: S$793.75
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
- Lexus RX: S$972.39
- Mercedes-Benz GLC: S$925.60
The average of the six is S$878.01, and the X4 xDrive28i is 4% below it. Two of the six cost less to insure. The other four, including both Lexus models, cost more.

Costs no page can price for you
A few costs depend on your own life, so they have no single figure.
- Parking: HDB or condo season parking, plus office and weekend parking.
- Petrol: what you spend depends on distance and the pump price.
- ERP: based on the gantries you pass and when.
- Servicing: the maker's schedule, plus tyres, brakes and a battery over time. A used car's service record shows what was done.
- Depreciation: how much the car's value drops while you own it, which follows the COE years left.
