Thinking about a BMW X2 xDrive20i M Sport? This page is for buyers and owners who want the yearly numbers in one place. It goes through the costs that can be priced: road tax, the COE and car insurance.
Insurance prices here are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They help you see the shape of the costs. They are not what you will be quoted, which depends on your own details.
What is being priced
The new-car list has no entry for this model on sale now. There is no list price, power or body type to give, and this page does not add one.
Our quote form prices the BMW X2 xDrive20i M Sport with a 1,998cc engine. It is the version most of our insurers quote. Everything below refers to that engine.
Start with insurance
Insurance is a yearly cost, and the one that differs most between buyers. The BMW X2 xDrive20i M Sport price page prices this profile:
- The car: registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- The driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- The record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
14 insurers price it for that driver. The lowest premium is S$840.90. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$3,266.15, which is S$2,425.25 more, or 288% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
The top of the range is close to four times the bottom. Comparing quotes is the main way to keep this cost down. Two insurers on our panel show no online price for this model yet.
The excess on each plan
The excess is the share of a claim you pay before cover starts. S$600 is the most common figure on this page. Other plans set S$500, S$750 or S$800. One plan has no excess, and the dearest plan on the page carries S$2,500.
When two plans are close in price, the excess can be what separates them.
Changes that move the lowest price
The price page reruns the search with one detail changed:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,329.06, which is S$488.16 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,329.06, the same S$488.16 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,329.06, S$488.16 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$962.47, S$121.57 more
- A new car, registered this year: S$962.47, S$121.57 more
- A car 8 years old: S$786.13, S$54.77 less
Three of the six changes land on the same lowest price. Losing all your NCD, holding only 20%, or being a younger driver with a short record all lead to S$1,329.06. That is 58% above the page's lowest price.
An older driver pays a little more than the 40-year-old here. So does a brand-new car. An 8-year-old car is a little cheaper to insure.
These are lowest prices. Other plans may change by different amounts.
The COE
With a 1,998cc engine, above 1,600cc, this car needs a Category B COE. Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
That figure will have moved by the next bidding round. The COE page has the latest.
On a used car, ask how long the COE has left. It decides how long the car can stay on the road before the COE must be renewed or the car deregistered.
Road tax
For a 1,998cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$1,209.76 a year, checked on 2026-10-19. That is before any age surcharge.
From the tenth year, road tax climbs:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
You can check the sum for other engine sizes on the road tax page.
How it compares with similar cars
The price page lists six similar cars for the same driver and car age:
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- Toyota Voxy: S$793.75
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
- Lexus RX: S$972.39
- Mercedes-Benz GLC: S$925.60
The average of those six is S$878.01. The X2 xDrive20i M Sport is 4% below that average. Just 2 of them are cheaper to insure, both Toyotas.
Other BMW models are on the BMW car insurance page. For the low end of the market, see the cheapest cars to insure page.
Costs we leave to you
These costs turn on your own habits and address, so there is no single figure.
- Parking: season parking at home, plus work, malls and short stays.
- Petrol: your distance times the pump price.
- ERP: your routes and the times you use them.
- Servicing and wear: scheduled visits, then tyres, brakes and a battery as the years pass. Check what any warranty or service plan includes.
- Depreciation: the fall in value over the years you own the car, which ties to the COE years left.
