The BMW X2 sDrive20i is the X2 with a 2-litre engine. That engine size shapes two of its fixed costs in Singapore: the COE category and the road tax. This page covers both, then turns to car insurance.
All insurance prices here are examples for one stated driver, as of 20 October 2026. Treat them as a guide to how the costs stack up. Your own quote will depend on your details.
Which version is priced
The new-car list has no entry for this model on sale now. So this page gives no list price, power or body type.
Our quote form prices the BMW X2 sDrive20i with a 1,998cc engine. It is the version most of our insurers quote, and every figure below is for it.
A Category B COE
With a 1,998cc engine, above 1,600cc, the X2 sDrive20i needs a Category B COE. In the October 2026 1st round, Category B closed at S$130,100.
The COE price changes every bidding round. You can follow the latest results on the COE page.
If you buy one used, the COE comes with the car. The years left on it matter more than the original price, since they decide how long the car can stay on the road.
Road tax for a 2-litre car
Road tax rises with engine size, and 2 litres sits well above the smaller X2 versions. For the 1,998cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$1,209.76 a year. That figure was checked on 2026-10-19 and comes before any age surcharge.
Once the car passes 10 years, the surcharge steps up each year:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The road tax page works out the sum for any engine size.
Car insurance prices for a standard driver
The BMW X2 sDrive20i price page uses one fixed profile:
- Car: 3 years since registration, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: 40 years old, married, office job, 10 to 19 years of driving
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options added
15 insurers price the car on those details. The lowest premium is S$840.90. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$3,266.15. That is S$2,425.25 more than the lowest, or 288% on top. Prices include 9% GST.
That is a very wide spread. It means two drivers with the same record could pay sums far apart, simply by buying from different places.
Look at the excess as well
The excess is the first part of a claim, which you pay yourself. Most plans on this page set it at S$600. Some sit at S$500, S$750 or S$800. A few higher-priced plans ask S$2,500, one asks S$3,000, and one has no excess at all.
So a premium on its own does not tell the whole story. Check both figures side by side.
When one detail changes
The price page also shows the lowest price when one thing about the driver or car is different:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,395.98, or S$555.08 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,395.98, also S$555.08 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,347.46, S$506.56 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$962.47, S$121.57 more
- New car, registered this year: S$962.47, S$121.57 more
- Car 8 years old: S$786.13, S$54.77 less
The largest jump comes from losing the NCD: 66% more at the lowest price. A younger driver with only 3 years on the road is not far behind.
Unlike some cars, the older driver here pays more than the 40-year-old. A brand-new X2 also costs more to insure than the 3-year-old one on the page. An 8-year-old car costs less.
Each figure is the lowest price for that change. Other plans may move further, or less.
Against similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page sets the X2 sDrive20i next to six similar cars:
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- Toyota Voxy: S$793.75
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
- Lexus RX: S$972.39
- Mercedes-Benz GLC: S$925.60
Their average lowest price is S$878.01. The X2 sDrive20i comes in 4% below it. Only 2 of the six cost less to insure: the Toyota Harrier and the Toyota Voxy.
So, among 2-litre cars of this kind, the X2 sDrive20i is not dear to insure at the lowest price. You can see other BMW models on the BMW car insurance page, and a wider ranking on the cheapest cars to insure page.
Running costs that depend on you
Some costs come down to how and where you drive, so no single figure fits.
- Parking: HDB or condo season parking, plus what you pay at work, malls and on the street.
- Petrol: depends on your mileage and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on your routes and timing.
- Servicing: the maker's schedule sets the visits. Over the years, tyres, brakes and the battery need replacing. Ask what any warranty covers.
- Depreciation: the gap between what you pay and what the car fetches later, tied closely to the COE years left.
On a used car, the service record shows what has already been done.
