The BMW 730i M Sport on our quote form has a 1,998cc engine. That one fact shapes its costs. Road tax is far below what a 7 Series with a larger engine pays, which makes it a different car to keep. This page sets out the dated costs: the COE, road tax and car insurance.
All insurance prices here are examples, read on 20 October 2026, for one stated driver and car. Your own details will give a different figure, so use these to understand the costs, not as an offer.
The version priced
The quote form lists the BMW 730i M Sport with a 1,998cc engine, and that is the car priced below. The new-car list has no entry for it now, so this page has no list price, power figure or body type. You will be buying used.
COE
The price page states that the 730i M Sport, with a 1,998cc engine above 1,600cc, needs a Category B COE. Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
The COE on a used car has already been paid. What matters to you is how many years it has left. Ask for the expiry date, and judge the asking price with it in mind. The COE page shows the latest results for anyone planning to renew.
Road tax
For the 1,998cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$1,209.76 a year, before any age surcharge.
Once a car passes 10 years, a surcharge is added:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
Check the registration date of the car you view. The road tax page shows how the figure is worked out for any engine.
Insuring the 730i M Sport
The BMW 730i M Sport price page prices this case:
- Car: 730i M Sport, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
14 insurers price it for that driver. The lowest premium is S$836.39 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is the dearest asks at least S$3,495.71. That is S$2,659.32 more, or 318% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
This is among the widest spreads you will see on any car. The dearest lowest plan costs more than four times the lowest premium, for the same car and driver. A few figures on the page are estimates, so check them on the insurer's own quote.
The excess
The excess is what you pay on each claim. Most plans for this car carry S$600. Others sit at S$500, S$750 or S$800. One asks S$2,500 and one has none. When premiums are close, the excess can decide which plan costs less in a bad year.
How the lowest price changes
The price page shows the lowest premium after one change:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,494.48, S$658.09 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,408.66, S$572.27 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,494.48, S$658.09 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,003.38, S$166.99 more
- A new car, registered this year: S$1,070.66, S$234.27 more
- A car 8 years old: S$795.56, S$40.83 less
Without NCD, the lowest premium is 79% higher. A 20% NCD saves only a little on that, and a young driver pays the same as a driver with no NCD. An older driver pays S$166.99 more than the example.
The newer-car line is S$234.27 dearer, while an 8-year-old car comes in S$40.83 lower. For a used buyer, that last line is the useful one. These are lowest prices only. Plans higher up may move by more or less.
Against similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page compares six cars:
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
- Lexus RX: S$972.39
- Mercedes-Benz GLC: S$925.60
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- Toyota Voxy: S$793.75
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
The six average S$878.01. The 730i M Sport is 5% below that. Two of the six, the Voxy and the Harrier, are cheaper to insure. Other BMW models are on the BMW car insurance page, and the cheapest cars to insure page ranks more.
Costs that depend on the owner
- Parking: season parking at home, plus parking at work and around town. A large sedan fits standard lots, but check any tight car park you use.
- Petrol: depends on your distance and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on your routes and the times you drive.
- Servicing and repairs: on a used car, ask for the service history and what work is due soon.
- Depreciation: set by what you pay and the COE years left when you sell.
