The BMW 7 Series is the make's flagship sedan, and its list price sits in a different bracket from most cars on Singapore roads. Yet some of its yearly costs are closer to the middle of the market than you might guess. This page sets the figures side by side: list price, COE, road tax and car insurance.
All insurance prices are examples, read on 20 October 2026, for one stated driver and car. A different driver or car will be quoted differently. Use them to see how the costs fit together.
The 7 Series range
The new-car list read on 2026-10-10 has two versions. Both are petrol-electric mild hybrids made in Germany, listed under the luxury body type, with a 2,998cc engine and 268bhp:
- 7 Series Mild Hybrid 735i Pinnacle
- 7 Series Mild Hybrid 735i M Sport
The quote form lists four 735i versions, all 2,998cc: the M Sport, the Pinnacle, the sDrive M Sport Pro and the sDrive Pure Excellence. The insurance figures below are for the 735i M Sport, the version most insurers quote.
List prices
As listed on 2026-10-10, with COE included in the list price that day:
- 735i Pinnacle: S$639,888
- 735i M Sport: S$673,888
Like every list price, these move with the COE. At this level, it is worth asking each seller for a full breakdown of what the price covers.
COE
The price page states that the 735i M Sport, with a 2,998cc engine above 1,600cc, needs a Category B COE. Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round. Later results are on the COE page.
Road tax on a large engine
Road tax climbs with engine size, and a large engine like this one pays far more than a small one. For 2,998cc, LTA's formula gives S$2,382.76 a year, before any age surcharge.
If the car is kept past 10 years, a surcharge is added:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
For this car, the road tax is one of the largest yearly bills you can put a figure on. The road tax page shows how it is worked out.
Insurance for one driver
The BMW 7 Series price page prices this case:
- Car: 7 Series 735i M Sport, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
10 insurers price it for that driver. The lowest premium is S$1,030.55 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is the dearest asks at least S$3,770.17. That is S$2,739.62 more, or 266% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
So the lowest premium is lower than the road tax. But the spread is huge: the dearest lowest plan costs well over three times as much. A few prices on the page are estimates, and the insurer's own quote has the final figure.
Excess
The excess is your share of each claim. Most plans for the 735i M Sport carry S$600. Others sit at S$500, S$750 or S$800. One asks S$2,500 and one has none. Read the excess with the premium, because a cheaper plan with a higher excess can cost more after a claim.
When the details change
The price page shows the lowest premium after one change:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,428.19, S$397.64 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,428.19, S$397.64 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,428.19, S$397.64 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,097.74, S$67.19 more
- A new car, registered this year: S$1,093.38, S$62.83 more
- A car 8 years old: S$973.68, S$56.87 less
With no NCD, the lowest premium is 39% higher, the biggest change on the list. A 20% NCD and a younger driver with less experience both land on the same figure. An older driver and a brand-new car each add a modest amount. An 8-year-old car comes in a little lower.
These are only the lowest prices. Plans higher up may react much more, so check the full list for your own case.
Similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six cars with engines close to its size:
- Audi S4 Saloon: S$1,501.01
- Audi Q7: S$1,238.58
- Audi S5: S$1,238.58
- Audi S5 SPRTback: S$1,238.58
- Audi SQ5: S$1,210.01
- Infiniti Infiniti: S$861.03
The six average S$1,214.63. The 7 Series is 15% below that. Only one, the Infiniti, costs less to insure. The BMW car insurance page covers other BMW models.
Costs you will price yourself
- Parking: season parking at home, plus parking at work, hotels and malls.
- Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price. The mild hybrid system works with the petrol engine.
- ERP: depends on your routes and the times you drive.
- Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule. Ask what the warranty and any service package include, and for how long.
- Depreciation: on a car with a high list price, what it loses in value can be a large cost. It depends on what you pay and what it sells for later.
