The BMW 630i GT is no longer on the new-car list, so anyone buying one now is buying used. That puts the focus on the costs that keep coming each year. This page sets out the dated figures we hold for it: the COE, road tax and car insurance.
The insurance prices are examples. They were read on 20 October 2026 for one stated driver and car. Your own premium depends on your own details, so treat these as a guide, not a quote.
The car priced
The quote form lists one version, the BMW 630i GT, with a 1,998cc engine. All figures below are for that car. As there is no entry on the new-car list, this page gives no list price, power figure or body type.
The COE on a used 630i GT
The price page states that the 630i GT, with a 1,998cc engine above 1,600cc, needs a Category B COE. In the October 2026 1st round, Category B closed at S$130,100.
You will not pay that sum when buying used. The first owner did. What you pay for is the COE time that is left. Two similar cars can be worth very different amounts if one has years left and the other is near expiry. Ask for the expiry date. If you plan to renew, the COE page has the latest results.
Road tax
LTA's formula gives S$1,209.76 a year for the 1,998cc engine, before any age surcharge.
The surcharge applies once a car is over 10 years old:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
Check the registration date of the car you are viewing. Past the 10-year mark, each year adds another step. The road tax page shows the working.
What insurance costs
The BMW 630i GT price page prices this example:
- Car: 630i GT, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
10 insurers price it for that driver. The lowest premium is S$982.40 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is the dearest asks at least S$3,495.71. The difference is S$2,513.31, or 256% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
That is a gap of more than three times between the lowest and the dearest lowest plan. On a car like this, comparing at each renewal can make a large difference to what you pay. It also helps to compare again whenever your details change, such as a new address, a new job or a new named driver. A few prices are estimates, so confirm the final figure on the insurer's own quote.
Excess
The excess is what you pay on each claim. Most plans for the 630i GT carry S$600. Others sit at S$500 or S$800. One plan asks S$2,500 and one has none. A low premium with a high excess may not save you money if you claim.
How the price shifts
The price page shows the lowest premium after one change, all else kept the same:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,586.24, S$603.84 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,586.24, S$603.84 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,586.24, S$603.84 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,135.86, S$153.46 more
- A new car, registered this year: S$1,135.86, S$153.46 more
- A car 8 years old: S$918.41, S$63.99 less
Without NCD, the lowest premium is 61% higher. At the lowest price, a 20% NCD and a young driver both land on that same figure. A driver aged 65 pays S$153.46 more than the example.
For a used-car buyer, the last line is the useful one. An 8-year-old 630i GT costs S$63.99 less to insure at the lowest price than a 3-year-old one. These are lowest prices only; other plans may change by different amounts.
Against similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page compares six cars:
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
- Lexus RX: S$972.39
- Mercedes-Benz GLC: S$925.60
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- Toyota Voxy: S$793.75
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
The six average S$878.01. The 630i GT costs 12% more than that, and all six are cheaper to insure. Other BMW models are on the BMW car insurance page, and the cheapest cars to insure page ranks a wider set.
Costs that vary with the owner
- Parking: season parking where you live, plus parking at work and in town.
- Petrol: depends on your distance driven and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on your routes and the times you drive.
- Repairs and servicing: on a used car, ask for the full service record and what work is due next, such as tyres, brakes or a battery.
- Depreciation: set by the price you pay and the COE years left when you sell.
