The BMW 3 Series in Singapore, priced item by item

Owning a BMW 3 Series in Singapore: list prices, a Category B COE, road tax of S$1,209.76 and dated insurance prices for several drivers.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The 3 Series has long been the default executive sedan for many buyers here. Before you commit to one, it helps to see each cost on its own line. That is what this piece does, from the list price to the insurance bill.

All insurance prices are examples for a single stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. Your premium will follow your own age, record and car. Treat the figures as a guide to the size of each cost, not as a quote.

On sale now

The new-car list read on 2026-10-10 places the 3 Series under its Luxury body type, made in Mexico. It shows two versions:

  • 3 Series Sedan 318i Inspiring: petrol, 1,998cc, 154bhp
  • 3 Series Sedan 318i M Sport: petrol, 1,998cc, 154bhp

Our quote form lists many more, as the 3 Series has been sold here for a long time. They run from a 318 1.5 with 1,499cc to the 335i with 2,979cc, plus diesel and Touring versions. The insurance figures below are for the 330i 2.0, with a 1,998cc engine, the version most insurers on our panel quote.

Sticker price

As listed on 2026-10-10, with COE in the price:

  • 318i Inspiring: S$319,888
  • 318i M Sport: S$331,888

The list price tracks the COE round, so a quote on the day you visit may differ. Ask each seller what the price includes, such as servicing or warranty terms, before you weigh one against another.

Which COE it needs

The price page sets this out for the 330i 2.0. With a 1,998cc engine, above 1,600cc, it needs a Category B COE. That category closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round. Results change every round; the COE page carries the latest.

Road tax

Road tax for a petrol car is fixed by engine size. With a 1,998cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$1,209.76 a year, before any age surcharge. Both versions on the new-car list share that engine size.

A surcharge applies once the car passes 10 years:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

Older 3 Series with smaller or larger engines pay a different base rate. The road tax page lets you look up other sizes.

Car insurance for the example driver

The BMW 3 Series price page uses this profile:

  • Car: 330i 2.0, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons

15 insurers price it for that profile. The lowest premium is S$1,009.11 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$3,039.75, S$2,030.64 more, or 201% on top. All prices include 9% GST. Only one insurer on our panel has no online price for the 3 Series yet.

That gap is for the same driver and the same car. Few figures in this piece make a stronger case for comparing quotes.

The plan, not just the price

Check the cover name beside each price. The lowest premium on the page is for a collision-only plan, while most others are full comprehensive plans. Check what each plan pays for before you treat two prices as equal.

The excess also differs. Most plans carry S$600, one has S$0, and several sit at S$2,500 or S$3,000. A low premium with a high excess can cost more after a claim.

How the price shifts

The price page also shows the lowest price when one thing changes:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,310.92, S$301.81 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,310.92, S$301.81 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,310.92, S$301.81 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,159.93, S$150.82 more
  • New car, registered this year: S$1,093.38, S$84.27 more
  • Car 8 years old: S$943.37, S$65.74 less

The largest step is losing your NCD, at 30% more on the lowest price. A driver of 65 also pays more than the standard example on this car. A newer car costs more to insure than the 3-year-old one, and an older car less. These are lowest prices only.

Against six similar cars

For the same driver and car age, the price page lists these cars and their lowest prices:

Their average lowest price is S$878.01. The 3 Series costs 15% more than that, and all six are cheaper to insure for this driver. The BMW car insurance page lists the brand's other models.

What you set yourself

Some costs have no single figure because they depend on you:

  • Parking: season parking where you live, plus work and mall rates. Ask your HDB block or condo for its rate.
  • Petrol: follows how far you go and the pump price.
  • ERP: depends on where and when you drive.
  • Servicing and parts: the maker's schedule sets the visits. Tyres, brakes and a battery come up over the years, and a warranty may cover part of the cost.
  • Depreciation: depends on the price you pay and what the car fetches later in its COE life.

Summary of yearly costs we can show

For the 330i 2.0, dated as shown:

  • Road tax: S$1,209.76 a year before any age surcharge (LTA's formula, checked 2026-10-19)
  • Insurance, standard driver: from S$1,009.11 a year (20 October 2026)
  • Insurance, no NCD: from S$1,310.92
  • Insurance, driver aged 65: from S$1,159.93
  • Insurance, car 8 years old: from S$943.37

One-off costs, for reference: a list price from S$319,888 as listed on 2026-10-10, and a Category B COE of S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
