The Hyundai Venue 1.6 sits on the quote form but not on the current new-car list. So this page does not cover what one costs to buy from a showroom. It covers what keeps coming back each year once you own one, and what the COE rules mean for it.
Insurance figures are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They let you see the range and what moves it. Your own quote will depend on your details.
The car being priced
The form carries the Venue 1.6, with a 1,598cc engine. Most insurers quote that version, so it is the one used throughout.
There is no new-car list entry for the Venue. That means no list price, no power figure and no body type can be given here. If you are shopping for one, the seller's paperwork is where those details come from.
COE
The price page gives the COE rule for the Venue 1.6 and its 1,598cc engine. The car needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less. If its power is more, it needs Category B.
The October 2026 1st round closed at S$130,001 for Category A and S$130,100 for Category B. Every round brings a new result, posted on the COE page. On a used Venue, check how many years are left on its COE.
Road tax
Road tax for a 1,598cc engine is S$741.72 a year on LTA's formula, before any age surcharge. That surcharge starts after year 10 and rises by a step each year:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
For other engine sizes, the road tax page does the sum.
What insurance costs the standard driver
The Hyundai Venue price page prices one case:
- Car: Venue 1.6, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, nothing extra
13 insurers give a price. The lowest premium is S$622.34. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,609.68, which is S$987.34 more, or 159% on top. Every figure includes 9% GST.
The page shows 20 plans in all. Three insurers have no online price for the Venue. The spread is wide, so the same driver could pay well over twice as much depending on the insurer.
The excess
Most plans set the excess at S$600. Others ask S$500 or S$800. Several plans go up to S$2,500 or S$3,000, and one has no excess at a much higher premium.
A plan with a low premium and a S$3,000 excess suits someone who rarely claims and can cover a large bill. A plan with a lower excess costs more each year but less when you claim. Look at both numbers together, and check any separate excess for young or unnamed drivers.
Price changes, one detail at a time
The price page shows how the lowest premium responds:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,019.24, S$396.90 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,019.24, S$396.90 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,019.24, S$396.90 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$622.34, the same
- A new car, registered this year: S$642.42, S$20.08 more
- A car 8 years old: S$569.36, S$52.98 less
With no NCD, the lowest price is 64% higher. The same figure turns up for 20% NCD and for a younger driver. An older driver with long experience pays the same as the standard driver.
Car age moves the figure only a little. The 8-year-old car comes in slightly cheaper than the 3-year-old one. Bear in mind these are lowest prices. Other plans may react in their own way.
Similar cars for comparison
Six cars, same driver and car age, from the price page:
- Mazda 3: S$927.36
- BMW X1: S$811.71
- Mercedes-Benz C-Class: S$749.93
- Toyota Corolla Altis: S$642.42
- Honda Freed: S$642.42
- Toyota Sienta: S$604.07
Those six average S$729.65 at their lowest. The Venue is 15% below that, and only the Toyota Sienta costs less to insure. More Hyundai models are on the Hyundai car insurance page. The cheapest cars to insure page compares across makes.
What depends on your own use
No one figure fits these, since they depend on you:
- Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus what you pay at work, malls and in town.
- Petrol: your mileage and pump prices.
- ERP: your routes and the hours you travel.
- Servicing and repairs: scheduled servicing, then tyres, brakes, a battery and other parts as the years go by. Ask what has already been replaced on a used car.
- Depreciation: the price you pay set against the COE years left and the car's value when you sell.
