The Hyundai Getz is one of the smaller cars on Singapore roads, and its smallest engine keeps the fixed bills low. If you have one, or are looking at one secondhand, this page sets out the yearly costs we can show.
The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are a guide to the market for this car. Your own quote will depend on your details.
Five engines, one priced
The Getz has no entry on the new-car list on sale now. So there is no list price or power figure for it here.
Our quote form lists five versions:
- Getz 1.1: 1,086cc
- Getz 1.3: 1,341cc
- Getz 1.4: 1,399cc
- Getz 1.5 CRDi: 1,492cc
- Getz 1.6: 1,599cc
The figures that follow are for the Getz 1.1, the version most of our insurers quote. The larger engines pay more road tax.
Road tax at the low end
Road tax goes by engine size. With a 1,086cc engine, the Getz 1.1 pays S$441.44 a year under LTA's formula, before any age surcharge.
After 10 years, a surcharge is added each year:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
Even at the top of that scale, a small engine keeps the bill modest. The road tax page has the other engine sizes.
The COE
The price page gives the COE rule for the Getz 1.1. With a 1,086cc engine, it needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less, and a Category B COE if it is more.
In the October 2026 1st round, Category A closed at S$130,001 and Category B at S$130,100. With a used Getz, the COE comes with the car, and the years left on it shape the price. New results appear on the COE page after each round.
What it costs to insure
The Hyundai Getz price page quotes every insurer for the same driver and car:
- Car: Getz 1.1, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons
14 insurers price the Getz for that driver. The lowest premium is S$545.00. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,127.06, which is S$582.06 more. That is 107% on top, so more than double. All prices include 9% GST.
Mind the excess
The excess is what you pay on each claim. Most Getz plans ask S$600, and others ask S$500, S$750 or S$800. A few ask much more, at S$2,500 or S$3,000. Unlike many cars, no Getz plan on the page has a zero excess.
On a small car, a S$2,500 or S$3,000 excess could cover much of a minor repair. That makes the excess as important as the premium when you compare.
When one thing changes
The price page changes a single detail and gives the new lowest price:
- No NCD (0%): S$880.28, S$335.28 more
- 20% NCD: S$880.28, S$335.28 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$880.28, S$335.28 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$545.00, the same
- A new car, registered this year: S$552.91, S$7.91 more
- A car 8 years old: S$545.00, the same
The NCD stands out. With none, the lowest price rises 62%, the only large change on the list. A younger driver with 30% NCD lands on that same figure.
Car age barely matters at the lowest price. An 8-year-old Getz costs the same as a 3-year-old one, and a new one only S$7.91 more. Dearer plans may still change with age, so do not rely on the lowest line alone.
Beside six small cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page compares the Getz with six cars of similar engine size:
- Chery A1: S$774.43
- Audi A1: S$660.69
- Audi Q2: S$660.69
- Mitsubishi Attrage: S$622.34
- Nissan Kicks e-Power: S$590.12
- Toyota C-HR: S$552.91
Their average lowest price is S$643.53. The Getz, at S$545.00, is 15% below that, and none of the six costs less to insure. More Hyundais are on the Hyundai car insurance page. The cheapest cars to insure page ranks a wider set of models.
Costs that vary with the owner
These costs are real but too personal to price:
- Parking: season parking at your block or condo, plus paid parking elsewhere. Check the rate for your own estate.
- Petrol: rises with distance and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on your routes and the times you travel.
- Repairs and servicing: tyres, brakes, a battery and other wear parts come due on an older car. A service record helps.
- Depreciation: depends on what you pay and the COE life left.
