Honda WR-V in Singapore, from list price to car insurance

The Honda WR-V's list prices, COE rule, road tax and car insurance in Singapore, with dated examples for one standard driver.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Honda WR-V is a compact SUV made in India and sold new in Singapore. If you are thinking of buying one, the costs come in two kinds: what you pay up front, and what you pay each year. This page covers both, as far as the figures allow.

Insurance prices here are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They show how insurers price the car, not what you will pay.

Versions on sale

The new-car list read on 2026-10-10 has four WR-V versions. All are petrol SUVs with a 1,496cc engine and 117bhp:

  • WR-V 1.5 X
  • WR-V 1.5 Z
  • WR-V 1.5 X, edition version
  • WR-V 1.5 Z, edition version

The two edition versions are a separate listing with their own prices. The insurance figures on this page are for the WR-V 1.5 Z, the version most of our insurers quote.

List prices

As listed on 2026-10-10, with COE included in the list price that day:

  • WR-V 1.5 X: S$192,600
  • WR-V 1.5 Z: S$207,400
  • WR-V 1.5 X, edition version: S$173,800
  • WR-V 1.5 Z, edition version: S$179,800

List prices move with each COE round. When you compare offers, ask what each price includes, so that you compare like with like.

The COE category

The price page gives the rule for the WR-V 1.5 Z. With a 1,496cc engine, it needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less, and a Category B COE if it is more.

In the October 2026 1st round, Category A closed at S$130,001 and Category B at S$130,100. Both move every round. The COE page carries the latest results.

Road tax each year

The WR-V's 1,496cc engine gives a road tax of S$681.90 a year under LTA's formula. That is before any age surcharge.

A new car will not meet the surcharge for a decade. It starts once a car is more than 10 years old:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The road tax page handles other engine sizes.

What insurers charge the standard driver

The Honda WR-V price page asks every insurer to price the same case:

  • Car: WR-V 1.5 Z, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons

12 insurers price the WR-V for that driver. The lowest premium is S$797.50. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,384.70, which is S$587.20 more, or 74% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

The excess varies a lot

Each plan also carries an excess, which you pay on any claim. Most WR-V plans set S$600. Others sit at S$500, S$750 or S$800. A few go to S$2,500 or S$3,000. One plan has none, S$0.

So two quotes with close premiums can leave you with very different bills after a claim. Compare the excess along with the price.

How the price changes

The price page alters one thing at a time, keeping the rest fixed:

  • No NCD (0%): S$953.92, S$156.42 more
  • 20% NCD: S$953.92, S$156.42 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$953.92, S$156.42 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$876.34, S$78.84 more
  • A new car, registered this year: S$830.47, S$32.97 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$767.39, S$30.11 less

The NCD makes the largest difference, a 20% rise in the lowest price with none. A younger driver on 30% NCD pays the same.

Unlike many models, an older driver pays more here. The 65-year-old's lowest price is S$78.84 higher. Fewer insurers quote that case, 11 rather than 12, and the plan with the lowest price for the standard driver is not among them.

If you are buying new, note that a car registered this year costs S$32.97 more to insure at the lowest price than a 3-year-old one.

Similar cars for the same driver

The price page compares six similar cars at the same car age:

Their average is S$749.19. At S$797.50, the WR-V is 6% above it, and four of the six cost less to insure. See the Honda car insurance page for other Hondas, or the cheapest cars to insure page across makes.

Costs that turn on your own use

These need a line in your budget, but no single figure fits everyone:

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, and paid parking elsewhere. Check your own block's rate.
  • Petrol: depends on distance and the pump price.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and hours.
  • Servicing: follow the maker's schedule. Ask what the warranty and any service package include.
  • Depreciation: what you lose over the COE life depends on the price paid and the resale value later.

Summary of yearly costs we can show
