Owning a Honda Accord in Singapore, with road tax and insurance costs

Honda Accord costs in Singapore: the version on sale, road tax and COE for the 1.5 VTEC, and dated car insurance prices for several drivers.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Honda Accord has been on Singapore roads in several generations, so owners range from new-car buyers to people running an older 1.5 or 2.4. This page goes through the costs we hold figures for. The focus is car insurance, with road tax and COE alongside.

The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They show the range and what moves it. Your own premium depends on your own details.

On sale new, and on the quote form

The new-car list read on 2026-10-10 has one Accord on sale. It is made in Thailand and listed under the luxury body type:

  • Accord Hybrid 2.0 RS e:HEV: petrol-electric, 1,993cc, 181bhp

That list gives no price for it, so this page shows none.

Our quote form carries four versions that owners insure:

  • Accord 1.5 VTEC: 1,498cc
  • Accord 2.0: 1,997cc
  • Accord 2.4: 2,354cc
  • Accord 2.4E (A): 2,354cc

The insurance, road tax and COE figures below are for the 1.5 VTEC, the version most of our insurers quote. The hybrid and the larger engines will differ.

COE for the 1.5 VTEC

The price page gives the rule for this version. With a 1,498cc engine, the Accord 1.5 VTEC needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less. It needs a Category B COE if its power is more.

In the October 2026 1st round, Category A closed at S$130,001 and Category B at S$130,100. Results change each round; the COE page keeps the latest.

Road tax

Road tax follows engine size. For the 1.5 VTEC's 1,498cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$683.08 a year, before any age surcharge.

From a car's tenth year, a surcharge is added:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The 2.0, the 2.4 and the hybrid have larger engines, so their road tax is higher. The road tax page has the figures by engine size.

What insurance costs

The Honda Accord price page prices one profile:

  • Car: Accord 1.5 VTEC, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years of driving
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no options

On those details, 14 insurers price the Accord. The lowest premium is S$666.79. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,293.06. That is S$626.27 more, or 94% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

Many insurers offer two or three plans each, so the page lists 21 plans in all. Only two insurers on our panel have no online price for the model.

Excess to compare

Your excess is the part of each claim you pay. Most plans here use S$600. Some use S$500 or S$800, and one has none. A handful carry S$2,500 or S$3,000.

One of the lower-priced plans on the page carries a S$2,500 excess. So a low premium can hide a large bill after a claim. Read the two figures together.

The price under different details

Here is the lowest premium when one detail changes and the rest stay the same:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,089.84, up S$423.05
  • 20% NCD: S$1,089.84, up S$423.05
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,089.84, up S$423.05
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$666.79, no change
  • New car, registered this year: S$700.28, up S$33.49
  • Car 8 years old: S$622.34, down S$44.45

Losing your NCD is the costliest change, at 63% more on the lowest price. A 20% NCD gives the same figure as none.

A newer Accord costs a little more to insure, and an older one a little less. These are lowest prices only; dearer plans may move by other amounts.

Against similar cars

For the same driver and car age, the price page sets the Accord beside six similar cars:

Those six average S$749.19. The Accord comes in 11% below that. Two of them are cheaper to insure: the Corolla Altis and the Sienta. Other Hondas are on the Honda car insurance page.

Costs that vary by owner

These costs depend on your own use, so no single figure fits.

  • Parking: HDB or condo season parking, plus work, malls and street parking.
  • Petrol: depends on distance and pump price. The hybrid uses an electric motor as well as petrol.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and times.
  • Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule, and budget for tyres, brakes and a battery. On a new car, ask what the warranty and any service package include.
  • Depreciation: depends on what you pay and what the car fetches later.

Summary of the figures we can show
