The Honda Edix is an older model with no entry on the current new-car list. Owners in Singapore still have to pay road tax and insure it every year, and a buyer on the used market will want those figures first. This page gathers them in one place.
The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They show the spread and how it moves. Your own price depends on your own answers.
The versions we price
Two versions appear on our quote form:
- Edix 2.0X: 1,998cc
- Edix 17X: 1,668cc
All figures below are for the 2.0X, the version most of our insurers quote. The 17X has a smaller engine, so its road tax is lower and its premium may differ. There is no list price, as the Edix is no longer on sale new.
COE category
With a 1,998cc engine, above 1,600cc, the Edix 2.0X needs a Category B COE, the price page says. In the October 2026 1st round, Category B closed at S$130,100.
For a car this age, the more useful question is how much COE life is left. That sets how long the car can stay registered. If the COE is near its end, the choice is to renew it or deregister the car. The COE page has each round's results.
Road tax
For the 2.0X's 1,998cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$1,209.76 a year, before any age surcharge.
After 10 years, the tax rises in steps:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
A used Edix may already be past its tenth year, so check whether a surcharge applies. The surcharge is worked out on the base tax and rises each year until it reaches half of it. The road tax page has the figure for the 17X's engine size.
The insurance picture
The Honda Edix price page prices one profile:
- Car: Edix 2.0X, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years of driving
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
On those details, 13 insurers price the Edix. The lowest premium is S$787.96. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,327.76. That is S$539.80 more, or 69% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
The gap is large in money terms, and it is there for the same car, driver and cover. Some prices are marked as estimates, so confirm those on the insurer's own site. Three insurers on our panel have no online price for the Edix.
Look at the excess
The excess is the share of any claim that falls on you. Most plans on this page set S$600. Others set S$500, S$750 or S$800. A few set S$2,500 or S$3,000.
The S$2,500 plan sits among the lower premiums. So check whether a cheaper price comes with a much larger bill if you claim.
What makes the price go up or down
The price page re-runs the quote with one change each time. The lowest premium becomes:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,098.76, S$310.80 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,098.76, S$310.80 more
- Driver aged 27 with 3 years' driving and 30% NCD: S$1,098.76, S$310.80 more
- Driver aged 65 with 20 or more years' driving: S$787.96, the same
- Car registered this year: S$811.71, S$23.75 more
- Car 8 years old: S$721.59, S$66.37 less
The NCD carries the most weight, adding 39% to the lowest price when it is gone. A 20% NCD lands on the same figure, so the saving comes from building up a high NCD.
The car's age has a smaller effect. An 8-year-old Edix shows a lower lowest premium than a 3-year-old one. These are lowest prices only. Plans further up the page may move by more or less, so look at each plan you shortlist.
Similar cars, same driver
The price page lists six similar cars for the same driver and car age:
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
- Lexus RX: S$972.39
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- BMW 5 Series: S$861.03
- Toyota Voxy: S$793.75
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
Their average lowest price is S$867.25. The Edix sits 9% below that, and only the Harrier is cheaper to insure. The Voxy is close behind. For other Hondas, see the Honda car insurance page.
Costs that depend on the owner
These vary with your own habits, so we give no figure.
- Parking: season parking where you live, plus at work and in town. Check your block's rate.
- Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on your routes and the time of day.
- Servicing and repairs: routine servicing, plus tyres, brakes and a battery over the years. With an older car, ask what has been replaced recently.
- Depreciation: depends on what you pay and how many COE years remain.
