Honda WR-V edition model, its road tax, COE and insurance in Singapore

Road tax, the COE rule and dated car insurance prices for the Honda WR-V edition model 1.5 X in Singapore, for one standard driver.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Honda WR-V edition model has its own price page on this site, apart from the standard WR-V. This page goes through the costs we can attach a figure to: road tax, the COE rule and car insurance for a set driver.

Every insurance figure here is an example for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. It is a guide to the market, not a quote. Your own price will reflect your age, record and car.

Versions on our quote form

The new-car list has no entry for this edition model on sale now. So this page shows no list price, power figure or body type for it.

Our quote form lists two versions, both with a 1,496cc engine:

  • WR-V edition model 1.5 X
  • WR-V edition model 1.5 Z

Most of our insurers quote the 1.5 X, so the figures below are for that version. The standard WR-V has its own page, with its own figures.

Road tax for 1,496cc

Under LTA's formula, a 1,496cc engine pays S$681.90 a year in road tax, before any age surcharge. Both versions share that engine size, so both pay the same.

The surcharge only comes in once a car is more than 10 years old:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The road tax page lets you check other engine sizes.

The COE rule

The price page states that the edition model 1.5 X, with a 1,496cc engine, needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less, and a Category B COE if it is more.

The October 2026 1st round closed at S$130,001 for Category A and S$130,100 for Category B. The COE page is updated with each round.

Insurance for one fixed driver

To compare like with like, the price page for this WR-V edition prices one profile at every insurer:

  • Car: the 1.5 X, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons

10 insurers price this car. Six more on our panel have no online price for it yet. The lowest premium is S$797.50. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,270.51. That is S$473.01 more, or 59% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

The lowest premium matches the one on the standard WR-V page. Fewer insurers price the edition model, though, so the field is smaller. With fewer quotes on offer, each one you collect matters more.

Check the excess

The excess is what you pay on a claim before cover starts. Most plans for this car set it at S$600. Others set S$500, S$750 or S$800. One plan has no excess at all, S$0.

The excess and the premium work together. A cheaper premium is not much use if the excess eats the saving the first time you claim.

Single changes and what they do

Holding everything else steady, the price page changes one item and shows the lowest price:

  • No NCD (0%): S$953.92, S$156.42 more
  • 20% NCD: S$953.92, S$156.42 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$953.92, S$156.42 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$876.34, S$78.84 more
  • A new car, registered this year: S$830.47, S$32.97 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$767.39, S$30.11 less

Going without NCD costs the most, a 20% rise at the lowest price. A younger driver with 30% NCD comes to the same figure.

The older driver pays more for this car, by S$78.84. A new car also costs more than a 3-year-old one, while an 8-year-old car costs less. In each case the lowest-priced plan changes, which is why the steps are uneven.

Six similar cars on the page

For the same driver and car age, the price page gives the lowest price of six similar cars:

Their average lowest price is S$749.19. This WR-V's S$797.50 is 6% above that, and four of the six cost less to insure. Other Hondas are on the Honda car insurance page. For a wider view, the cheapest cars to insure page ranks models.

Variable costs to plan for

No single figure fits these, since they depend on how you live and drive:

  • Parking: season parking at home plus paid parking elsewhere. Your own block's rate is what to check.
  • Petrol: set by distance and pump price.
  • ERP: depends on routes and times.
  • Servicing: follow the maker's schedule. Ask what warranty cover applies to this edition.
  • Depreciation: tied to the price you pay and what the car fetches when you sell.

Summary of yearly costs we can show
