The cost of keeping a Honda Mobilio SV in Singapore

Road tax, COE rules and car insurance examples for the Honda Mobilio SV in Singapore, with every figure dated and the standard driver stated.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Honda Mobilio SV is no longer sold new, so most people who look it up are buying one used or renewing cover on one they own. This page puts the yearly costs we can measure in one place: road tax, the COE rules and car insurance.

Insurance figures are examples for a single stated driver, taken on 20 October 2026. They tell you how insurers price this model. Your own premium will depend on your details.

What is on the form

The new-car list has no entry for the Mobilio SV on sale now. That means there is no list price, and no power figure to quote.

Our quote form prices the Honda Mobilio SV 1.5 CVT, which has a 1,497cc engine. Most of the insurers we compare quote this version, so the prices below all refer to it.

Road tax on a 1,497cc engine

LTA sets road tax by engine capacity. For the Mobilio SV's 1,497cc engine, the formula comes to S$682.50 a year. That is the figure before any age surcharge.

A car more than 10 years old pays more each year:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

When you look at an older Mobilio SV, check its registration date. The surcharge band it falls in changes the yearly bill. The road tax page covers other engine sizes.

The COE rule for this car

A used car carries whatever COE life it has left, and that remaining life is part of what you pay for. If you later renew the COE, the category matters.

The price page says the Mobilio SV 1.5 CVT, with its 1,497cc engine, needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less, and a Category B COE if it is more.

In the October 2026 1st round, Category A closed at S$130,001 and Category B at S$130,100. Results change every round. The COE page shows the latest.

Insurance for one standard driver

Comparing insurers only works if each one prices the same person. The Honda Mobilio SV price page uses this profile:

  • Car: Mobilio SV 1.5 CVT, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: 40 years old, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • History: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no extra options

On that basis 13 insurers price the car. The lowest premium is S$642.42. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,270.51. The gap is S$628.09, or 98% more. Every price includes 9% GST.

Put simply, the dearest insurer's lowest plan costs close to double the lowest premium. Same car, same driver.

Look at the excess as well

The excess is the share of each claim that you pay. Most Mobilio SV plans on the page set it at S$600. Others sit at S$500, S$750 or S$800. One plan has no excess, S$0.

A lower premium paired with a higher excess can leave you worse off after a claim. Read both columns before you decide which quote suits you.

Changes that shift the price

The page then changes one detail at a time and reports the lowest price that results:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,012.89, up S$370.47
  • 20% NCD: S$1,012.89, up S$370.47
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,012.89, up S$370.47
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$642.42, no change
  • A new car, registered this year: S$660.69, up S$18.27
  • A car 8 years old: S$586.41, down S$56.01

Losing the NCD is the costly change. The lowest price rises 58% with no discount. A younger, newer driver with 30% NCD pays the same higher figure.

Age works the other way for the car. An 8-year-old Mobilio SV comes out cheaper to insure at the lowest price than a 3-year-old one. These are lowest prices only; other plans can move by different amounts.

How it compares with similar models

The price page sets six similar cars beside the Mobilio SV, for the same driver and car age:

Their average lowest price is S$749.19. The Mobilio SV, at S$642.42, comes in 14% under it. Only one of the six, the Toyota Sienta, is cheaper to insure, and the Corolla Altis matches it. More Honda models are on the Honda car insurance page. The cheapest cars to insure list compares many models at once.

Running costs that vary by owner

These costs are real, but they depend too much on you for a single figure:

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus paid parking at work and in town. Check your own estate's rate.
  • Petrol: how far you drive each week and the pump price decide it.
  • ERP: set by the gantries on your usual routes and the times you pass them.
  • Servicing and wear: tyres, brakes and batteries come due on any used car. A full service record makes this easier to plan.
  • Depreciation: on a used car it turns on what you pay now and how many COE years remain.

Summary of yearly costs we can show
