Honda Jazz and Fit in Singapore, the costs of owning and insuring one

What a Honda Jazz or Fit costs to keep in Singapore: list price, COE, road tax and car insurance for several drivers, with dated example figures.

20 Oct 2026 · 6 min read

The Honda Jazz, sold in many markets as the Fit, is a hatchback made in Japan. The quote form covers many older versions, and a hybrid Jazz is on the new-car list. If you are weighing one up, this piece sets out the costs you can put a figure on.

The insurance figures are examples, read on 20 October 2026, for one stated driver. Change the driver or the car and the price changes too. Use them to see how the costs fit together, not as a quote.

Which Jazz or Fit

The new-car list read on 2026-10-10 has one version on sale. It is a hatchback made in Japan:

  • Jazz Crosstar Hybrid 1.5 e:HEV [Monotone]: petrol-electric, 1,498cc, 130bhp

The used market is wider. The quote form lists nine versions, under both names:

  • Fit 1.3: 1,339cc
  • Fit 1.3 G F-Package (A): 1,317cc
  • Fit 1.3G BI Fuel (A): 1,317cc
  • Fit 1.5: 1,497cc
  • Fit RS: 1,496cc
  • Fit Shuttle 1.5: 1,497cc
  • Jazz 1.3: 1,339cc
  • Jazz 1.4 (A): 1,339cc
  • Jazz 1.5: 1,496cc

The insurance prices below are for the Fit 1.3 G F-Package (A), the version most insurers quote. Keep that in mind if you are looking at the new hybrid.

Buying new

As listed on 2026-10-10, the Jazz Crosstar Hybrid 1.5 e:HEV [Monotone] was S$192,899, with COE included that day.

That figure moves with each COE round. A quote from a showroom later on may be higher or lower. When you compare offers, look at what each one bundles in before you compare the totals.

The COE

Every car on Singapore roads carries a Certificate of Entitlement. For the Fit 1.3 G F-Package (A), with its 1,317cc engine, the category turns on power:

  • Category A: if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less. It closed at S$130,001 in the October 2026 1st round.
  • Category B: if its power is more. It closed at S$130,100 in the same round.

COE prices change every bidding round. The COE page carries the latest results.

Road tax

Road tax for a petrol car follows its engine size. For the Fit 1.3 G F-Package (A)'s 1,317cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$576.92 a year, before any age surcharge.

That surcharge matters here, because many Fits on sale secondhand are getting on in years. Once a car passes 10 years, the tax rises:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The 1.5 versions and the new hybrid have bigger engines, so their road tax is different. The road tax page works it out for other engine sizes.

Insurance for a typical driver

The Honda Jazz / Fit price page sets out one standard case:

  • Car: Fit 1.3 G F-Package (A), registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons

For that driver, 15 insurers give a price. The lowest premium is S$622.34 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,219.42. That is S$597.08 more, or 96% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

So the same small hatchback, with the same driver, can cost almost twice as much to insure. One insurer on the panel has no online price for this model yet.

Excess to watch

The excess is the share of each claim you pay first. Most plans on this page carry S$600. The full range runs from S$0 up to S$3,000. Some of the plans with a S$2,500 or S$3,000 excess are not the dearest on premium. Set the excess beside the premium when you compare.

What moves the price

The price page also shows the lowest premium when one detail changes and the rest stays the same:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,219.42, which is S$597.08 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,048.14, which is S$425.80 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,107.42, which is S$485.08 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$622.34, the same
  • New car, registered this year: S$642.42, which is S$20.08 more
  • Car 8 years old: S$569.36, which is S$52.98 less

Your NCD does the most work. With none, the lowest price rises by 96%. A younger driver with less experience also pays a good deal more. An older Fit costs a little less to insure than a 3-year-old one at the lowest price. These are lowest prices only. Other plans may move by different amounts.

How it stacks up against similar cars

The price page puts six similar cars beside it, for the same driver and car age. Each one's lowest price:

Their average lowest price is S$792.17. The Jazz / Fit comes in 21% below that. Only one of the six, the Toyota Sienta, is lower. Other Honda models are on the Honda car insurance page.

Running costs that vary by owner

Some costs depend so much on you that no single figure would help.

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus what you pay at work, malls and on the street. Check your block's rate first.
  • Petrol: set by how far you go and the pump price. The new hybrid also runs on its electric motor.
  • ERP: depends on where and when you drive.
  • Servicing: follow Honda's schedule. Tyres, brakes and a battery come due over the years. On a used car, ask for the service record.
  • Depreciation: what the car loses over its COE life turns on what you pay and what it sells for later.

Summary of yearly costs we can show
