On the Kia Stinger, your no-claim discount does more to the insurance bill than almost anything else on our price page. This page shows how much, and sets out the other yearly costs we can put figures on: road tax and the COE category.
The Stinger is not on the new-car list now, so a buyer today is looking at a used one. All insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They show how the market behaves, not the price you will be quoted.
Versions on the quote form
Our quote form lists two versions:
- Stinger 2.0: 1,998cc
- Stinger 3.3 GT: 3,342cc
The insurance, road tax and COE figures below are for the 2.0, the version most insurers quote. The 3.3 GT has a far larger engine and pays much more road tax. As there is no new-car list entry, there is no list price to show.
COE
The price page's COE section says the Stinger 2.0, at 1,998cc, is above 1,600cc. It needs a Category B COE.
Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round. The COE page has later rounds. On a used car, check how long the current COE has left to run.
Road tax
For the 2.0's 1,998cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$1,209.76 a year, before any age surcharge. Check the 3.3 GT on the road tax page.
The surcharge for age:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
Insurance for the example driver
The Kia Stinger price page prices this case:
- Car: Stinger 2.0, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons
12 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$986.48. The insurer with the dearest lowest plan asks at least S$1,461.73, which is S$475.25 more, or 48% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
That spread is narrower than on many cars. Four insurers that price cars online have no online price for the Stinger. For one, the model is not on its online quote; the others have no online price for it yet.
The excess
The excess is what you pay towards each claim. Nine of the 17 plans on this page carry S$600, and three ask S$500. Three ask S$2,500 and one S$3,000. One plan has no excess. Look at the excess column as carefully as the premium.
The NCD effect
The price page reprices the car with one change at a time:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,661.14, S$674.66 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,390.14, S$403.66 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,399.68, S$413.20 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$999.77, S$13.29 more
- New car, registered this year: S$999.77, S$13.29 more
- Car 8 years old: S$955.20, S$31.28 less
With no NCD, the lowest price is 68% higher than the base case. That is the biggest change on the list. Even at 20% NCD, it is S$403.66 more. On many cars, 0% and 20% NCD give the same lowest price. On the Stinger they do not, so each step of the discount counts.
The younger driver also pays a lot more, at S$1,399.68. The older driver and a new car each add only S$13.29. An 8-year-old car is S$31.28 cheaper to insure.
A different insurer is lowest in most of these rows. So the plan that suits the example driver may not be the one that suits you. Compare again with your own NCD and age.
If you hold a full NCD from another car, it carries across when you switch. Ask your current insurer for proof of it before you get quotes. On this car, it makes a large difference.
Against similar cars
The price page compares six similar cars, at the same driver and car age:
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
- Lexus RX: S$972.39
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- BMW 5 Series: S$861.03
- Toyota Voxy: S$793.75
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
Their average lowest price is S$867.25. The Stinger costs 14% more, and all six are cheaper to insure at these settings. The two Lexus models come closest. Other Kia models are on the Kia car insurance page.
Costs that depend on you
These vary by owner, so we do not put figures on them:
- Parking: season parking at home and work, plus parking when you are out.
- Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on your routes and times.
- Servicing and repairs: on a used car, ask for the service record and what is coming up.
- Depreciation: depends on the price you pay and the COE years left.
