The Kia Sorento is a seven-seat SUV, sold new today as a hybrid. Older versions with larger engines are on the used market too. This page covers what it costs to buy and keep one in Singapore, using our price page, the new-car list and LTA's formula.
One point to hold on to: the new-car list figures are for the hybrid, while the insurance, road tax and COE figures are for the older 2.2. Each section says which version it covers. Insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026.
The versions
The new-car list read on 2026-10-10 has two Sorento versions on sale, both SUVs made in Korea:
- Sorento Hybrid 1.6 Air 7-Seater: petrol-electric, 1,598cc, 212bhp
- Sorento Hybrid 1.6 Earth 7-Seater: petrol-electric, 1,598cc, 212bhp
Our quote form lists nine versions:
- Sorento 2.2: 2,199cc
- Sorento 1.6 7-Seaters: 1,598cc, in Air, Earth, SX, SX Tech and SX Tech Pack trims
- Sorento 2.4: 2,351cc
- Sorento 2.4 EX (A): 2,359cc
- Sorento 2.5 CRDi Automatic: 2,497cc
The insurance figures below are for the 2.2, the version most insurers quote.
List price
As listed on 2026-10-10, with COE included in the list price that day:
- Hybrid 1.6 Air 7-Seater: S$253,999
- Hybrid 1.6 Earth 7-Seater: S$263,999
List prices change with each COE round. When you compare dealer offers, check what each includes before you compare totals.
COE
The price page's COE section covers the Sorento 2.2. With a 2,199cc engine, above 1,600cc, it needs a Category B COE. That category closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
The page does not state a category for the hybrid, so we give none for it. See the COE page for the latest results.
Road tax
For the 2.2's 2,199cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$1,445.52 a year, before any age surcharge. The hybrid's smaller engine and the larger 2.4 and 2.5 engines each pay a different sum. The road tax page lets you check.
The age surcharge, for cars over 10 years old:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
Insuring the Sorento 2.2
The Kia Sorento price page prices this case:
- Car: Sorento 2.2, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons
15 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$787.96. The insurer with the dearest lowest plan asks at least S$1,399.87, which is S$611.91 more, or 78% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
Only one insurer that prices cars online has no online price for the Sorento yet, so the comparison takes in nearly the whole market.
Excess
The excess is what you pay on each claim. Of the 23 plans here, ten carry S$600. Three ask S$500, two S$750 and three S$800. Three ask S$2,500 and one S$3,000, while one plan has none. A cheap premium with a high excess shifts cost to you when you claim.
How the price shifts
The price page reprices the car with one change:
- No NCD (0%): S$986.30, S$198.34 more
- 20% NCD: S$986.30, S$198.34 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$986.30, S$198.34 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$787.96, the same
- New car, registered this year: S$811.71, S$23.75 more
- Car 8 years old: S$721.59, S$66.37 less
No NCD costs the most, adding 25% to the lowest price. The younger driver reaches the same figure. The 65-year-old pays the same as the base driver. A new car costs a little more and an 8-year-old one less. These are lowest prices only.
With seven seats, a Sorento may have more than one regular driver. Name each one when you ask for quotes, since the younger driver row shows how much a driver can change the price.
Against similar cars
The price page compares six similar cars for the same driver and car age:
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- BMW 5 Series: S$861.03
- Toyota Camry: S$841.31
- Toyota Alphard: S$764.82
- Toyota Vellfire: S$764.82
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
They average S$805.99. The Sorento costs 2% less, which puts it in the middle of the group. Three of the six are cheaper to insure: the Alphard, the Vellfire and the Harrier. Other Kias are on the Kia car insurance page.
Costs that depend on you
- Parking: season parking at your HDB block, condo or landed home, plus work and weekend parking.
- Fuel: depends on distance and pump prices. The hybrid uses an electric motor as well as petrol.
- ERP: depends on your routes and times.
- Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule. On a new car, ask what the warranty and any service package cover.
- Depreciation: depends on what you pay and what the car fetches later.
