Pricing up a Kia Seltos? This page puts figures on the yearly costs we can show for it in Singapore: road tax and car insurance. It also sets out what the COE section of our price page says about it.
The Seltos is not on the new-car list now, so you would be looking at a used car. Insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. Treat them as a guide to the market, not as your own quote.
The Seltos on our form
Our quote form has one version:
- Seltos 1.4: 1,353cc
All figures below are for the 1.4. With no new-car list entry, there is no list price to show. If a car you are offered has a different engine size on its papers, these figures will not apply to it, so check that first.
Which COE applies
For the Seltos 1.4, with a 1,353cc engine, the category turns on power. The price page's COE section says it needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less, and a Category B COE if it is more.
The October 2026 1st round closed at S$130,001 for Category A and S$130,100 for Category B. The COE page carries later results. When you buy a used Seltos, the COE expiry date is part of what you are paying for.
Road tax
At 1,353cc, LTA's formula gives S$598.04 a year, before any age surcharge.
The surcharge for older cars:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The road tax page has other engine sizes, if you are comparing the Seltos with something else.
Insurance for the base case
The Kia Seltos price page prices this case:
- Car: Seltos 1.4, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years of driving
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons
12 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$765.90. The insurer with the dearest lowest plan asks at least S$1,146.82, which is S$380.92 more, or 50% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
That is a narrower spread than on many cars, but still a sum worth saving. Four insurers that price cars online have no online price for the Seltos. For one, it is because the model is not on its online quote.
The excess
The excess is your share of each claim. There are 19 plans on this page. Nine carry S$600. Two ask S$500 and three S$800. Three ask S$2,500 and one asks S$3,000. One plan has no excess. When you line up plans, read the excess as closely as the premium. Two plans a few dollars apart on premium can be thousands apart on what you pay after a claim.
What moves the premium
The price page shows the lowest premium after one change:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,026.46, S$260.56 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,026.46, S$260.56 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,026.46, S$260.56 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$836.97, S$71.07 more
- New car, registered this year: S$754.69, S$11.21 less
- Car 8 years old: S$729.01, S$36.89 less
No NCD costs the most, adding 34% to the lowest price. The 27-year-old with 30% NCD lands on the same figure. The 65-year-old pays more than the 40-year-old, by S$71.07.
The car's age has less effect. Both a new car and an 8-year-old car come in below the 3-year-old car on the page. That is because a different insurer is lowest in some rows. These are lowest prices; other plans may change by more or less.
So the driver matters more than the car here. If someone other than you will be the main driver, get quotes in their name.
Against similar cars
The price page compares six similar cars for the same driver and car age:
- Mazda 3: S$927.36
- BMW X1: S$811.71
- Mercedes-Benz GLB: S$787.96
- Mercedes-Benz C-Class: S$749.93
- Honda Freed: S$642.42
- Toyota Sienta: S$604.07
Their average lowest price is S$753.91, and the Seltos costs 2% more. That puts it near the middle. Three of the six are cheaper to insure: the C-Class, the Freed and the Sienta. The other three cost more. Other Kia models are on the Kia car insurance page.
Costs that depend on you
We give no figures for these:
- Parking: season parking at home and work, plus parking for errands. Check your own block's rates.
- Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on your routes and timing.
- Servicing and repairs: on a used car, ask for the service record and what is due soon.
- Depreciation: depends on what you pay and the COE life left.
