If an Infiniti QX50 is on your shortlist, the figures that matter most each year are road tax and car insurance. This page goes through both, along with the COE category, using only what our price page and LTA's formula show.
The insurance prices are examples, read on 20 October 2026, for one stated driver and car. Your own premium will depend on your details.
The QX50 on our quote form
The new-car list has no QX50 on sale now, so there is no list price here. Our quote form carries a single version:
- Infiniti QX50: 1,997cc
All the figures below are for that car. Because the form lists only one engine size, the road tax and COE category below apply to any QX50 you are likely to find for sale. Check the engine size on the car's papers anyway, as the figures depend on it.
COE
Every car on the road needs a Certificate of Entitlement. The price page's COE section says the QX50, at 1,997cc, is above 1,600cc and needs a Category B COE.
In the October 2026 1st round, Category B closed at S$130,100. The figure moves every round, so see the COE page for the latest. When you buy a used car, the remaining COE life is part of the price you pay.
Road tax
For a 1,997cc engine, LTA's formula sets road tax at S$1,208.58 a year, before any age surcharge.
The surcharge applies once the car is more than 10 years old:
- More than 10 years: +10%
- More than 11 years: +20%
- More than 12 years: +30%
- More than 13 years: +40%
- More than 14 years: +50%
You can compare other engine sizes on the road tax page.
Insurance for a typical driver
The Infiniti QX50 price page works from these details:
- Car: QX50, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons
12 insurers price the car for that driver. The lowest premium is S$1,127.54. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$2,365.01. That is S$1,237.47 more, or 110% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
In other words, the dearest insurer's lowest price is more than double the lowest premium on the page. Four insurers that price cars online have no online price for the QX50, so you are choosing from a slightly narrower field.
The excess
The excess is your share of each claim. Ten of the nineteen plans on this page carry S$600. Three carry S$2,500 and three carry S$800. One has no excess at all, and one runs to S$3,000. When two premiums look close, the excess can be the real difference.
What changes the premium
The price page shows the lowest premium when one detail is changed and everything else stays put:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,473.85, S$346.31 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,473.85, S$346.31 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,473.85, S$346.31 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,202.65, S$75.11 more
- New car, registered this year: S$1,106.90, S$20.64 less
- Car 8 years old: S$1,066.37, S$61.17 less
Losing the NCD costs the most: the lowest price climbs by 31%. The older driver pays a little more than the 40-year-old. One point stands out. A new QX50 is cheaper to insure than the 3-year-old car, and an 8-year-old one is cheaper still. Different insurers are lowest in different rows, which is why the lowest price can move in ways that look odd. Other plans may shift by other amounts.
Next to similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six similar cars:
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
- Lexus RX: S$972.39
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- BMW 5 Series: S$861.03
- Toyota Voxy: S$793.75
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
Their average lowest price is S$867.25. The QX50 costs 30% more than that, and all six of these cars are cheaper to insure at these settings. If insurance cost weighs heavily in your choice, this comparison is worth a look. Even the two Lexus models, the dearest of the six, come in below the QX50 at S$972.39. Each link opens that car's own price page, with its full list of plans and excesses. The Infiniti car insurance page covers the rest of the make.
Costs that depend on you
These vary too much between owners to give one figure:
- Parking: season parking at home, plus work and weekend parking. Check your own car park's charges.
- Petrol: depends on your mileage and the pump price.
- ERP: set by your routes and travel times.
- Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule. On a used car, ask what has been done and what is due.
- Depreciation: depends on what you pay and the COE life left.
