Road tax, COE and insurance costs for an Infiniti Q50 in Singapore

What an Infiniti Q50 costs to keep on Singapore roads: COE category, road tax and dated car insurance examples for several drivers.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Infiniti Q50 is a sedan you are most likely to meet on the used market in Singapore. If you are thinking of buying one, or already own one and want to know whether your premium is fair, this page sets out the costs we can put figures on.

All insurance prices here are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They show how the costs compare and what moves them. Your own quote will depend on your own details.

Which Q50 we priced

The new-car list has no Q50 on sale now, so there is no list price to show. Our quote form carries two versions, both with the same engine:

  • Q50 2.0T Premium A/T: 1,991cc
  • Q50 2.0T SPORT A/T S/R (R19): 1,991cc

The insurance figures below are for the 2.0T Premium A/T, the version most insurers quote. Because both versions share one engine size, the road tax and COE category are the same for either.

The COE

Any car on Singapore roads runs on a Certificate of Entitlement. The price page's COE section puts the Q50 2.0T Premium A/T, with its 1,991cc engine, above the 1,600cc line. That makes it a Category B car.

In the October 2026 1st round, Category B closed at S$130,100. The premium changes with each bidding round. If you buy a used Q50, the COE already paid is part of what you are buying, and the years left on it matter. The COE page keeps the latest results.

Road tax

Road tax follows engine size. For the 1,991cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$1,201.54 a year, before any surcharge for age.

Since a Q50 bought today will often be an older car, the age surcharge is worth knowing:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The road tax page works out the figure for other engine sizes.

Insuring a Q50: the standard example

The Infiniti Q50 price page prices one set of details:

  • Car: Q50 2.0T Premium A/T, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: 40 years old, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons

On those details, 13 insurers give a price online. The lowest premium is S$861.03. The insurer with the dearest lowest plan asks at least S$2,324.79. That is S$1,463.76 more, or 170% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

So the same driver in the same car can pay well over double, depending on where the policy comes from. Three insurers that price cars online have no online price for this model yet, so the field is a little smaller than for a common car.

Excess

The excess is what you pay towards each claim before the insurer pays the rest. Most plans on this page set it at S$600. Across the page it runs from S$0 to S$3,000, with some plans at S$500, S$750, S$800 or S$2,500. A low premium with a S$2,500 or S$3,000 excess is a different deal from one with S$600. Read the two figures together.

What moves the price

The price page also shows the lowest premium when one detail changes and the rest stay as above:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,386.09, S$525.06 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,386.09, S$525.06 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,386.09, S$525.06 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$861.03, no change
  • New car, registered this year: S$886.61, S$25.58 more
  • Car 8 years old: S$787.96, S$73.07 less

The NCD makes the biggest difference here. With no discount, the lowest price is 61% higher. A younger driver with less experience lands on the same S$1,386.09. An older car is cheaper to insure at this lowest price, which matters for a model mostly bought used. Dearer plans may move by different amounts from these lowest prices.

How it compares with similar cars

The price page sets the Q50 against six similar cars, with the same driver and car age. Lowest prices:

Their average lowest price is S$867.25. The Q50 sits 1% below that. Two of the six, the Voxy and the Harrier, are cheaper to insure. The E-Class and 5 Series match it exactly. More on the make is on the Infiniti car insurance page.

Costs we cannot put a figure on

Some running costs depend so much on the owner that one number would mislead.

  • Parking: HDB or condo season parking, plus what you pay at work and in town. Check your own car park's rate.
  • Petrol: set by how far you drive and pump prices.
  • ERP: depends on where and when you drive.
  • Servicing and repairs: on an older car, wear items such as tyres, brakes and batteries come up. Ask for the service records when you buy.
  • Depreciation: what you lose depends on the price you pay and the COE years left.

Summary of yearly costs we can show

For the Infiniti Q50 2.0T Premium A/T, with dates as stated:

  • Road tax: S$1,201.54 a year, before any age surcharge (LTA's formula, checked 2026-10-19)
  • Insurance, standard driver: from S$861.03 a year (20 October 2026)
  • Insurance, no NCD: from S$1,386.09
