Infiniti Q50 and Q70 ownership and insurance costs in Singapore

Road tax, Category B COE and dated car insurance examples for the Infiniti Q50 3.0 Red Sport 400 in Singapore, with a very wide price spread.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

A three-litre engine changes the sums in Singapore. Road tax climbs steeply with engine size, and insurers price larger, more powerful cars in very different ways. The Infiniti Q50 3.0 Red Sport 400 shows both effects clearly. This page sets out the figures, item by item.

The insurance prices here are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They show how wide the market is. They are not a quote for you.

The versions on the form

The quote form groups these under one Infiniti entry:

  • Q50 3.0 Red Sport 400 (A): 2,997cc
  • Q70: 2,496cc

The Q50 3.0 is the version most insurers quote, so it is the one priced below. There is no entry on the current new-car list, so no list price, power figure or body type is given here.

COE

With a 2,997cc engine, above 1,600cc, the Q50 3.0 Red Sport 400 needs a Category B COE. That is what the price page states. Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.

For a used car, the COE left on it matters a great deal to its value. The COE page has each round's results.

Road tax

This is where engine size shows. For the 2,997cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$2,381.58 a year, before any age surcharge. On older cars, the surcharge adds:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

On a figure this size, each step of the surcharge adds a noticeable sum. The Q70's smaller 2,496cc engine pays less. You can look it up on the road tax page.

Insurance for the standard driver

The Infiniti price page uses these details:

  • Car: Q50 3.0 Red Sport 400 (A), registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no options

10 insurers price this car. The lowest premium is S$861.03. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$4,006.36. That is S$3,145.33 more, or 365% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

That spread is much wider than on most cars. The same driver could pay more than four times as much for the same car, depending on the insurer. For a car like this, a single quote tells you very little about the market.

Six insurers give no online price for this model. For them, you would need to ask directly.

The excess

Most plans here set the excess at S$600, with a few at S$500 or S$800. One plan asks S$2,500. Another has no excess at all. The premium ranking does not take the excess into account, so look at both columns on the price page. Check also whether a higher excess applies to young drivers or to anyone not named on the policy.

How the price shifts

The price page reworks the lowest premium as one detail changes:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,746.20, S$885.17 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,450.17, S$589.14 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,683.71, S$822.68 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$861.03, the same
  • A new car, registered this year: S$886.61, S$25.58 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$787.96, S$73.07 less

Losing NCD costs most: the lowest price more than doubles, up 103%. A younger driver with fewer years and 30% NCD also pays close to double. On a car with this kind of spread, the driver's record does a lot of the work.

Car age has a smaller effect. An older car is a little cheaper at the lowest price, and a new one a little dearer. These are lowest prices only; other plans may move by more or less.

Against similar cars

The price page compares six cars with engines close to three litres, for the same driver and car age:

Their lowest prices average S$1,242.89. The Infiniti is 31% below that, and none of the six is cheaper to insure. For more Infiniti models, see the Infiniti car insurance page.

Costs that depend on how you use it

These vary from owner to owner, so no figure is given:

  • Parking: HDB or condo season parking, plus work, mall and town parking.
  • Petrol: how far you drive and the pump price on the day.
  • ERP: the routes you take and the times you travel.
  • Servicing and repairs: the maker's schedule, plus tyres, brakes and a battery over time. Parts for a less common make can take time to arrive, so ask about availability before you buy.
  • Depreciation: shaped by what you pay and the COE years left on the car.

Summary of yearly costs we can show
