Daihatsu Terios 7-seater costs in Singapore, road tax to insurance

The Daihatsu Terios 7-seater 1.5 2WD in Singapore: road tax for 1,495cc, the COE rule and dated insurance prices from 13 insurers.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Daihatsu Terios 7-seater has its own entry on our quote form, separate from the standard Terios. It is no longer on the new-car list. If you are weighing up a used one, this page sets out the yearly costs and how insurance prices respond to your details.

All insurance figures are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are not a quote.

The car priced

The new-car list has no entry for this model on sale now. There is no list price, power or body type on this page.

Our quote form prices the Daihatsu Terios 7-SEATER 1.5 2WD, with a 1,495cc engine. It is the version most of our insurers quote.

Car insurance first

The standard profile

The Daihatsu Terios 7-seater price page prices:

  • Car: Terios 7-seater 1.5 2WD, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no options

What 13 insurers ask

13 insurers price it for that driver. The lowest premium is S$586.41 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,228.29. That is S$641.88 more, or 109% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

Three insurers on our panel have no online price for this model.

So the dearest plan costs more than twice the lowest, for the same car and driver.

The excess

Excesses here sit in a narrow band. Most plans set S$600. Three set S$500, two S$750 and three S$800. One plan has no excess. None goes above S$800.

That makes the plans easier to compare on premium. Still, read the excess on the plan you pick.

How the price changes

The price page shows the lowest price when one detail differs:

  • No NCD (0%): S$941.37, S$354.96 more
  • 20% NCD: S$941.37, S$354.96 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$941.37, S$354.96 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$586.41, the same
  • A new car, registered this year: S$604.07, S$17.66 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$545.00, S$41.41 less

Losing the NCD adds 61% at the lowest price. A 20% NCD and a younger driver reach the same figure.

The older driver pays the same as the 40-year-old. An 8-year-old car is a little cheaper to insure.

A car with seven seats is often a family car, with more than one person driving. If a younger driver will share it, the 27-year-old line is a fair guide to how much more the policy may cost. These are lowest prices; other plans may move by more.

The COE

With a 1,495cc engine, the Terios 7-seater 1.5 2WD needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less. It needs a Category B COE if its power is more.

In the October 2026 1st round, Category A closed at S$130,001 and Category B at S$130,100. These change every round; the COE page has the latest.

On a used car, check how long the COE has left.

Road tax

For the 1,495cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$681.32 a year. That was checked on 2026-10-19 and is before any age surcharge.

From the tenth year, the surcharge applies:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The road tax page has sums for other engines.

Comparing quotes

Beyond the premium, check:

  • Workshop: these prices assume an authorised workshop. Some plans let you use any workshop.
  • Named drivers: how each plan prices other drivers in the household.
  • NCD protection: an extra some plans offer. A claim can reduce the NCD for years.
  • Excess: your share of each claim.

Against similar cars

For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six similar cars:

Their average is S$735.99. The Terios 7-seater is 20% below that, and none of the six is cheaper to insure. The Toyota Sienta comes closest.

Other Daihatsu models are on the Daihatsu car insurance page. The cheapest cars to insure page ranks models across makes.

Before you buy

For a used Terios 7-seater, confirm:

  • COE expiry: how many years of use are left.
  • Road tax: when it falls due, and whether a surcharge applies.
  • Service record: what has been replaced and what may be due.
  • Your own quote: for this car and your details.

Costs that depend on you

These have no single figure:

  • Parking: HDB or condo season parking, plus elsewhere.
  • Petrol: your distance and the pump price.
  • ERP: your routes and hours.
  • Parts and servicing: for an older car, ask how parts are sourced and who services it.
  • Depreciation: for a used car, mostly the COE years left.

Summary of yearly costs

For the Daihatsu Terios 7-seater 1.5 2WD (1,495cc), dated as shown:
