The Daihatsu Sirion is a small-engined model that is no longer on the new-car list. Its road tax is modest, and its insurance compares well with similar cars. This page puts figures on both, plus the COE.
Insurance figures here are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are not a quote. Your own premium depends on your details.
Versions on the form
The new-car list has no entry for this model on sale now. So this page gives no list price, power or body type.
Our quote form lists two versions:
- Sirion 1.3: 1,298cc
- Sirion 1.5: 1,495cc
The figures below are for the Sirion 1.3, the version most of our insurers quote. The 1.5 pays more road tax, and its premiums may differ.
Road tax
For the 1,298cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$565.78 a year. That was checked on 2026-10-19 and is before any age surcharge.
After 10 years, the surcharge applies:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
For the 1.5, see the road tax page.
The COE
With a 1,298cc engine, the Sirion 1.3 needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less. It needs a Category B COE if its power is more.
In the October 2026 1st round, Category A closed at S$130,001 and Category B at S$130,100. These change every round; the COE page has the latest.
For a used Sirion, look at the COE expiry date before anything else.
Car insurance
The profile priced
The Daihatsu Sirion price page prices:
- Car: Sirion 1.3, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
The range
13 insurers price the Sirion for that driver. The lowest premium is S$569.36 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,136.79. That is S$567.43 more, or 100% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
In other words, the dearest plan costs double the lowest. Three insurers on our panel have no online price for this model.
The excess
Most plans set a S$600 excess. Three set S$500 and three S$800. Three set S$2,500 and one S$3,000. One plan has no excess.
On an older car, the higher excesses may be close to the cost of a repair. Weigh them with the premium.
How the price moves
The price page shows the lowest price with one change:
- No NCD (0%): S$866.45, S$297.09 more
- 20% NCD: S$866.45, S$297.09 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$866.45, S$297.09 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$569.36, the same
- A new car, registered this year: S$586.41, S$17.05 more
- A car 8 years old: S$545.00, S$24.36 less
Without NCD, the lowest price is 52% higher. A 20% NCD and a younger driver reach the same figure.
The older driver pays the same. An 8-year-old Sirion costs a little less to insure.
These are lowest prices. Other plans may move by other amounts.
Terms to compare
Beyond the price, check:
- Workshop: these prices assume an authorised workshop. Some plans let you use any workshop.
- Named drivers: an extra, younger driver can raise the premium.
- NCD protection: an extra some plans offer. A claim can reduce the NCD, and the higher premium lasts until it is rebuilt.
- Excess: your share of each claim.
Against similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six similar cars:
- Mercedes-Benz GLB: S$787.96
- Honda Jazz / Fit: S$622.34
- Toyota Yaris Cross: S$604.07
- Toyota C-HR: S$552.91
- Mercedes-Benz A-Class: S$787.96
- Mercedes-Benz GLA: S$787.96
Their average is S$690.53. The Sirion is 18% below that. Only one of them, the Toyota C-HR, is cheaper to insure.
Other Daihatsu models are on the Daihatsu car insurance page. The cheapest cars to insure page ranks models across makes.
Checks before you buy
For a used Sirion, confirm:
- Version: the 1.3 or the 1.5, for road tax.
- COE expiry: how many years of use are left.
- Road tax: when it falls due, and whether the surcharge applies.
- Your own quote: for this car and your details.
- Service record: what has been done recently and what may be due next, such as tyres, brakes or a battery, since those costs come on top of the figures here.
Costs that depend on you
These have no single figure:
- Parking: HDB or condo season parking, plus elsewhere.
- Petrol: your distance and the pump price.
- ERP: your routes and hours.
- Parts and servicing: for an older car, ask how parts are sourced and who services it. Tyres, brakes and a battery come due.
- Depreciation: for a used car, mostly the COE years left.
