Chery T11 in Singapore, its road tax, COE and insurance costs

What a used Chery T11 costs to keep in Singapore: road tax for 1,597cc, the COE rule and dated car insurance prices for one driver.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Chery T11 is a model that is no longer on the new-car list. Any T11 you find today will be a used car, so its COE years left matter. This page goes through what such a car costs each year, with the figures we can show.

Insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They help you see how prices compare. They are not a quote.

Versions on the quote form

The new-car list has no entry for this model on sale now. This page gives no list price, power or body type.

Our quote form lists two versions:

  • Chery T11 1.6: 1,597cc
  • Chery T11 2.0: 1,971cc

The figures below are for the T11 1.6, the version most of our insurers quote. The 2.0 pays more road tax, and its premiums may differ.

The COE

With a 1,597cc engine, the T11 1.6 needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less. It needs a Category B COE if its power is more.

In the October 2026 1st round, Category A closed at S$130,001 and Category B at S$130,100. These move every bidding round. The COE page has the latest.

When you look at a used T11, the COE expiry date is the first thing to check. It sets how long the car can stay on the road before the COE must be renewed or the car scrapped.

Road tax

For the 1,597cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$741.14 a year. That was checked on 2026-10-19 and is before any age surcharge.

An older T11 may already pay a surcharge:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The road tax page has the sum for the 2.0.

Car insurance

The standard driver

The Chery T11 price page prices:

  • Car: T11 1.6, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years of driving
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no options

What 12 insurers ask

12 insurers price the T11 for that driver. The lowest premium is S$774.43. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,228.28. That is S$453.85 more, or 59% on top. Prices include 9% GST.

Four insurers on our panel have no online price for this model.

Excess

Most plans set a S$600 excess. Two set S$500, two S$750 and three S$800. Three set S$2,500 and one S$3,000. One plan has no excess.

That is a wide spread of excesses. The plan with the lowest premium may not be the one with the lowest excess.

How the price shifts

The price page shows the lowest price when one detail changes:

  • No NCD (0%): S$953.92, S$179.49 more
  • 20% NCD: S$953.92, S$179.49 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$953.92, S$179.49 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$846.30, S$71.87 more
  • A new car, registered this year: S$797.04, S$22.61 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$737.13, S$37.30 less

Losing the NCD costs most, at 23% more. That is a milder rise than for many cars. The younger driver and 20% NCD cases reach the same figure.

The older driver pays a little more. The car's age makes only a small difference either way.

These are lowest prices. Other plans may move by other amounts.

Before you settle on a quote

A few terms are worth checking alongside the premium:

  • Workshop choice: the prices above assume an authorised workshop. Some plans allow any workshop, at a different price.
  • Extra drivers: a named driver who is younger or less experienced can raise the premium.
  • NCD protection: offered as an extra on some plans. Ask the cost and the terms.
  • Excess: the sum you pay on each claim, which varies widely here.

Against similar cars

For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six similar cars:

Their average is S$724.93. The T11 costs 7% more than that. Four of the six are cheaper to insure; the Mazda 3 and BMW X1 cost more.

Other Chery models are on the Chery car insurance page. The cheapest cars to insure page ranks models across makes.

Costs that depend on you

These have no single figure:

  • Parking: HDB or condo season parking, plus work and outings.
  • Petrol: your distance and the pump price.
  • ERP: your routes and hours.
  • Parts and repairs: for an older car from a smaller make, ask how easy parts are to find. Tyres, brakes and a battery come up over time.
  • Depreciation: on a used car, tied mostly to the COE years left.

The yearly figures

For the Chery T11 1.6 (1,597cc), dated as shown:

  • Road tax: S$741.14 a year before any age surcharge (LTA's formula, checked 2026-10-19)
  • Insurance, standard driver: from S$774.43 a year (20 October 2026)
  • Insurance, no NCD: from S$953.92
  • Insurance, a car 8 years old: from S$737.13

A fresh COE in the October 2026 1st round was S$130,001 (Category A) or S$130,100 (Category B).
