The Alfa Romeo Stelvio is an SUV from an Italian make, and it is a car where the insurance bill can vary widely. This page sets out the costs of keeping one in Singapore: the COE, road tax and car insurance, with what pushes each one up or down.
Treat every insurance figure as an example. Each was read on 20 October 2026 for one stated driver and car. Your own details will give a different price.
Versions and the one on sale
The new-car list read on 2026-10-10 has one Stelvio: the Stelvio 2.0 Veloce, a petrol SUV made in Italy, with 276bhp from 1,995cc. The list gives no price for it that day, so there is no list price on this page.
The quote form has three versions:
- Stelvio 2.0 Super: 1,995cc
- Stelvio 2.0 Veloce: 1,995cc
- Stelvio 2.9 Quadrifoglio: 2,891cc
The figures below are for the Stelvio 2.0 Super, the version most insurers quote. The Veloce shares its engine size and road tax. The Quadrifoglio has a larger engine and is priced differently.
The COE
The Stelvio 2.0 Super has a 1,995cc engine, above 1,600cc. The price page states that it needs a Category B COE, which closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
That figure will change with later rounds. The COE page has the latest.
Road tax
For the 1,995cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$1,206.24 a year, before any age surcharge. That is well above what a small-engined car pays, simply because of engine size.
The surcharge for older cars, once past 10 years:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The 2.9 Quadrifoglio pays more again. The road tax page has the figure for any engine size.
Car insurance: a wide spread
The Alfa Romeo Stelvio price page prices this example:
- Car: Stelvio 2.0 Super, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
8 insurers price the car for that driver. The lowest premium is S$1,098.20 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is the dearest asks at least S$2,660.46. That is S$1,562.26 more, or 142% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
Put another way, two quotes for the same Stelvio and the same driver can differ by S$1,562.26 a year. Only a handful of insurers price it, so each one you skip could be the lower figure. Some prices on the page are estimates, so confirm them on the insurer's own quote.
What you pay when you claim
Each plan sets an excess, your share of a claim. Most Stelvio plans carry S$600. Others sit at S$500 or S$800, a few at S$2,500, one at S$3,000 and one at none. A low premium paired with a high excess can cost more overall if you claim.
How the price moves
The price page lists the lowest premium after one change:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,347.98, S$249.78 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,347.98, S$249.78 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,347.98, S$249.78 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,098.20, the same
- A new car, registered this year: S$1,098.20, the same
- A car 8 years old: S$1,096.26, S$1.94 less
The NCD line is the only big mover, at 23% more with no discount. A younger driver lands on the same figure. The driver aged 65, the new car and the 8-year-old car barely shift the lowest price at all.
These are lowest prices only. Plans further up the list can respond very differently to the same change, so look at the full list for your own details before you decide.
How it sits against similar cars
The price page compares six cars for the same driver and car age:
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
- Lexus RX: S$972.39
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- BMW 5 Series: S$861.03
- Toyota Voxy: S$793.75
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
The six average S$867.25. The Stelvio is 27% above that, and all six are cheaper to insure. Other models from the make are on the Alfa Romeo car insurance page.
Costs that vary from owner to owner
- Parking: season parking at home plus what you pay elsewhere. An SUV fits most lots, but check any tight car park you use often.
- Petrol: depends on your distance and pump prices.
- ERP: depends on your routes and the hours you drive.
- Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule. Ask what the warranty and any service package cover.
- Depreciation: what you lose depends on the price you pay and the price you sell at.
