Thinking about a used Alfa Romeo Giulietta? Before you agree a price, it helps to know what the car will cost each year once it is yours. This page breaks that down into the parts you can put a figure on: the COE, road tax and car insurance.
A word on the insurance figures. They are examples, read on 20 October 2026, for one stated driver and car. Change the driver or the car and the price changes. Use them to see the pattern, not as the price you will pay.
The Giulietta versions
The new-car list has no Giulietta on sale now, so there is no list price on this page. The quote form shows three versions:
- Giulietta 1.4 TB: 1,368cc
- Giulietta 1750 Tbi: 1,742cc
- Giulietta 2.0 JTDM: 1,956cc
All the figures below are for the Giulietta 1.4 TB, the version most insurers quote. The 1750 Tbi and 2.0 JTDM have larger engines, so they pay more road tax, and their insurance may not match.
What the COE means here
Every car in Singapore needs a Certificate of Entitlement. For the Giulietta 1.4 TB, with a 1,368cc engine, the category depends on power. It needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less, and a Category B COE if it is more.
The October 2026 1st round closed at S$130,001 for Category A and S$130,100 for Category B. Each round brings new results, listed on the COE page.
With a used Giulietta, the COE was bought long ago. What you are paying for is the time left on it. Ask for the COE expiry date and weigh the price against it.
Road tax on the 1.4
The 1.4 TB's small engine keeps road tax down. LTA's formula gives S$606.84 a year for 1,368cc, before any age surcharge.
Cars over 10 years old pay extra:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
So check the registration date on any Giulietta you look at. Past the 10-year mark, the yearly bill climbs a step each year. The road tax page covers the larger engines.
The insurance example
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta price page prices this case:
- Car: Giulietta 1.4 TB, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
10 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$1,035.12 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is the dearest asks at least S$1,750.81, which is S$715.69 more, or 69% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
That gap is large enough to be worth an hour of comparing at each renewal. One price on the page is an estimate, so check it on the insurer's own quote.
Excess
Your excess is what you pay on each claim. Most Giulietta plans carry S$600. Two sit at S$500, a few at S$2,500, one at S$3,000, and one plan has no excess. Set the excess beside the premium when you compare.
The NCD effect
The price page shows the lowest premium after one change, all else equal:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,869.69, S$834.57 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,567.01, S$531.89 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,701.58, S$666.46 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,140.56, S$105.44 more
- A new car, registered this year: S$1,018.16, S$16.96 less
- A car 8 years old: S$957.26, S$77.86 less
The no-claim discount matters a great deal on this car. With no NCD, the lowest premium is 81% higher. Even 20% NCD leaves you paying S$531.89 more than at 50%. A younger, newer driver also pays much more.
The car's age matters far less. Both the newer and the older car come out a little cheaper here. Keep in mind these are the lowest prices only.
Against similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page compares six cars:
- Mazda 3: S$927.36
- BMW X1: S$811.71
- Mercedes-Benz GLB: S$787.96
- Mercedes-Benz C-Class: S$749.93
- Honda Freed: S$642.42
- Toyota Sienta: S$604.07
The six average S$753.91. The Giulietta costs 37% more than that, and every one of the six is cheaper to insure. The Alfa Romeo car insurance page covers the make's other models, and the cheapest cars to insure page ranks more.
What you will need to price yourself
- Parking: season parking where you live, and day-to-day parking elsewhere.
- Petrol: depends on your distance and pump prices.
- ERP: depends on where and when you drive.
- Upkeep: an older car may need more parts. Ask for its service history and check how parts are sourced.
- Depreciation: set by the price you pay and how many COE years are left.
