The Toyota Corolla Altis is a sedan made in Thailand. A new-car list read on 10 October 2026 shows three versions. This page sets them side by side on power, engine, fuel and list price. It then looks at similar cars, road tax and insurance. These are the listed figures, not a road test.

The three versions at a glance

  • Corolla Altis 1.6 Standard: petrol, 1,598cc, 129bhp, S$197,888
  • Corolla Altis 1.6 Elegance: petrol, 1,598cc, 129bhp, S$205,888
  • Corolla Altis Hybrid 1.8: petrol-electric, 1,798cc, 121bhp, S$214,888

All three list prices are as listed on 10 October 2026. They include COE as listed that day. They are not today's prices.

Power and engine side by side

The two 1.6 versions share one engine. Both use the 1,598cc petrol unit. Both are listed at 129bhp. On paper, the Standard and the Elegance have the same power.

The Hybrid 1.8 is different on both counts. Its engine is larger, at 1,798cc. It pairs that engine with an electric motor. Its listed power is 121bhp, which is lower than the 1.6 versions.

So in this range, the larger engine does not come with the higher bhp figure. The 1.6 petrol versions carry the highest listed power.

The facts give no torque, acceleration, top speed or fuel figures for any version. This page gives none.

List prices as listed on 10 October 2026

The order by list price runs from the 1.6 Standard to the 1.6 Elegance to the Hybrid 1.8.

  • The 1.6 Standard has the lowest list price of the three, at S$197,888.
  • The 1.6 Elegance sits in the middle, at S$205,888, with the same engine and bhp as the Standard.
  • The Hybrid 1.8 has the highest list price, at S$214,888, with the lowest bhp of the three.

The list does not say what equipment separates the Standard from the Elegance. Ask the seller for the full specification sheet of each version before comparing them on price.

The Corolla Altis against similar cars

The Corolla Altis price page compares it with six similar cars. For each one, it gives the engine size of the version most insurers quote. It does not give their bhp or list prices, so this page cannot compare them on power.

Here are the engine sizes the price page shows:

The Corolla Altis 1.6, at 1,598cc, has the largest engine of this group. The Hyundai Kona is the closest, at 1,591cc.

The same page gives the lowest insurance price for each car. The driver is aged 40 with a 50% no-claim discount, and the car is 3 years old.

  • Corolla Altis 1.6: S$642.42
  • Honda Freed: S$642.42
  • Hyundai Kona: S$721.59
  • Mazda 3: S$730.18
  • Mercedes-Benz C-Class: S$749.93
  • Honda Vezel: S$774.41
  • BMW X1: S$797.41

The six rivals average S$735.99 at their lowest price. The Corolla Altis comes in 13% below that. None of the six is lower; the Honda Freed matches it.

What the engine costs in road tax

LTA's road tax formula gives a figure for the 1,598cc engine of S$741.72 a year. That covers both 1.6 versions, before any age surcharge.

The facts here do not give a road tax figure for the Hybrid 1.8 and its 1,798cc engine. Check the exact sum on LTA's OneMotoring site before you compare running costs across versions. Our road tax guide explains how the charge is set.

Road tax also rises once a car passes 10 years old:

  • over 10 years: +10%
  • over 11 years: +20%
  • over 12 years: +30%
  • over 13 years: +40%
  • over 14 years: +50%

In this range, the two 1.6 versions carry the highest bhp and the same road tax. The extra power over the Hybrid does not come from a larger engine.

How the insurance price moves

The price page prices the Corolla Altis 1.6. Its quote form also lists a 1.4 (1,364cc) and a 1.8 (1,798cc). The page shows no separate price for the 1.4 or the 1.8. Ask for a quote on the exact version, as the price can differ.

For the page's driver, 17 insurers price the 1.6. On 23 October 2026, the lowest premium was S$642.42 and the highest was S$1,586.28. That gap is S$943.86, or 147% more. These are examples for that driver, not what you will pay.

The price page then changes one thing at a time:

  • No NCD (0%): lowest price S$710.92, S$68.50 more
  • 20% NCD: S$710.92, S$68.50 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$710.92, S$68.50 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 years' driving, 50% NCD: S$642.42, the same
  • A new car, registered this year: S$660.69, S$18.27 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$586.41, S$56.01 less

The largest change on the page comes from losing the no-claim discount. That moves the lowest price up by 11%. Our no-claim discount guide covers how NCD is earned and lost.

Excess and plan type

The premium is only one number. The excess on the Corolla Altis plans ranges from S$500 to S$3,000. Some plans with a lower premium carry a higher excess, such as S$2,500.

When you compare quotes, check:

  • the excess you pay on each claim
  • whether repairs are at an authorised workshop or any workshop
  • whether the plan is full comprehensive or collision-type cover
  • whether the price is an estimate or a live rate

Our guide to car insurance excess sets out what the excess means at claim time.

COE category

The price page states that the Corolla Altis 1.6, with its 1,598cc engine, needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less. If its power is more, it needs a Category B COE.

In the October 2026 2nd round, Category A closed at S$132,004 and Category B at S$131,901. These are past results, not today's premium. See the latest COE results and confirm the category for the exact version with LTA's OneMotoring site.

What the figures leave out

The facts cover bhp, engine size, fuel type, list price, road tax for the 1.6 and insurance prices for the 1.6. They do not cover torque, fuel use, equipment or the Hybrid's road tax.

To compare the versions fully, gather:

  • the full specification sheet for each version
  • the road tax for the 1,798cc engine from OneMotoring
  • an insurance quote for the exact version you are looking at
  • the COE category confirmed for that version
