This page puts the Mazda 3 on paper. It sets out its versions on power, engine, fuel and list price. Then it sets the car against similar models and looks at road tax and insurance. These are the listed figures, not a road test.

The five versions as listed

The new-car list shows five versions of the Mazda 3. The car is listed as a sedan and is made in Japan. One version is a hatchback. The list prices include COE as listed on 10 October 2026.

  • Mazda 3 Sedan Mild Hybrid 1.5 Classic Plus: 118bhp, 1,496cc, petrol-electric, listed at S$206,888
  • Mazda 3 Sedan Mild Hybrid 1.5 Classic: 118bhp, 1,496cc, petrol-electric, listed at S$212,200
  • Mazda 3 Sedan Mild Hybrid 1.5 Executive: 118bhp, 1,496cc, petrol-electric, listed at S$212,888
  • Mazda 3 Sedan Mild Hybrid 1.5 Luxury: 118bhp, 1,496cc, petrol-electric, listed at S$217,888
  • Mazda 3 Hatchback Mild Hybrid 1.5 Astina: 118bhp, 1,496cc, petrol-electric, listed at S$221,888

What the spec sheet shows

The power figure does not change across the range. Every version is listed at 118bhp. Every version uses the same 1,496cc engine. Every version is a petrol-electric mild hybrid.

So the list price is the only figure here that moves. The Classic Plus has the lowest list price of the five. The hatchback Astina has the highest. Paying more buys a different trim or body style, not more power on paper.

The list does not give torque, acceleration, top speed or fuel figures. This page gives none.

One naming point is worth noting. The list shows the Classic Plus at a lower price than the Classic. Check the version name with care when you compare quotes and price lists.

Older versions on the quote form

A used Mazda 3 may not match any of the five new versions. The insurance quote form lists eight versions, with these engine sizes:

  • Mazda 3 1.5 (1,498cc)
  • Mazda 3 1.5 M-Hybrid Classic (1,496cc)
  • Mazda 3 1.5L SP.6EAT (1,496cc)
  • Mazda 3 Hatchback 1.5 AT Deluxe (1,496cc)
  • Mazda 3 1.6 (1,598cc)
  • Mazda 3 Saloon 1.6 (1,598cc)
  • Mazda 3 MZR 2.0 (1,999cc)
  • Mazda 3 Saloon 2.0 (1,999cc)

The facts here give no power figures for these older versions. The larger engines may differ in power from the 118bhp of the current range. Check the power figure on the car's own papers before you buy.

Against similar cars

The Mazda 3 price page sets the car beside six similar models. It gives each car's engine size and its lowest insurance price for the same driver and car age. The facts do not give power figures for these rivals, so this comparison runs on engine size and insurance only.

The six rivals have an average lowest price of S$678.67. The Mazda 3 costs 8% more than that average. Five of the six are lower to insure for this driver. Only the BMW X1 comes in higher.

Engine size does not explain the order. The Toyota Sienta and Honda Freed share the Mazda 3's 1,496cc figure, yet both are lower. The Corolla Altis and the Kona have larger engines and are still lower. Insurers price on more than the engine.

COE category

The price page sets out the rule for the Mazda 3 1.5 M-Hybrid Classic. With its 1,496cc engine, it needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less. It needs a Category B COE if its power is more.

In the October 2026, 2nd round, Category A closed at S$132,004. Category B closed at S$131,901. These are that round's results only. Check the category for the exact car with the dealer's papers and on LTA's OneMotoring site. The latest results are on our COE page.

Road tax

Road tax follows engine size, not trim. LTA's formula gives S$681.90 a year for a 1,496cc engine, before any age surcharge. All five listed versions share that engine, so all five share that road tax.

In the current range, then, there is no extra power to pay for. A higher list price does not raise the road tax.

Older versions with 1,598cc or 1,999cc engines fall under different road tax figures. The facts here do not give those sums. Check them with LTA's road tax tools on OneMotoring, or see our road tax guide.

Cars over 10 years old pay an age surcharge on top:

  • over 10 years: +10%
  • over 11 years: +20%
  • over 12 years: +30%
  • over 13 years: +40%
  • over 14 years: +50%

How the insurance price moves

The price page prices the Mazda 3 1.5 M-Hybrid Classic. Its example driver is aged 40, married, in an office job, with 10 years of driving and a 50% no-claim discount. The car is 3 years old, with comprehensive cover and repairs at an authorised workshop. These are today's examples for that driver, not what you will pay.

For that driver, 14 insurers price the car. The lowest price is S$730.18. The highest is S$1,845.85.

The page also shows the lowest price when one detail changes:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,193.46, which is S$463.28 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,193.46, which is S$463.28 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,193.46, which is S$463.28 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 years' driving, 50% NCD: S$928.89, which is S$198.71 more
  • A new car, registered this year: S$776.77, which is S$46.59 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$714.63, which is S$15.55 less

On these figures, the driver's record moves the price far more than the car's age. Losing the 50% discount adds the most. Our guide to the no-claim discount explains how NCD builds up.

The price page uses one version only. Since all five current versions share 118bhp and 1,496cc, the spec sheet gives no power gap between them to price. For an older 1.6 or 2.0, get a quote for that exact version.

What to check

  • The exact version name, since list and quote form names differ
  • The power figure on the car's papers, for the COE category
  • The engine size, which sets the road tax
  • The car's age, if it is near or past 10 years
  • Quotes for your own details, set side by side on our compare page
