This list is for anyone in Singapore weighing up an electric car on cost. It sets eight electric models side by side. Each car gets the same facts in the same order: body type, motor, the list prices of its versions, road tax and today's lowest premium.

It says nothing about how any of these cars drive, how much room they have or how they are built. The figures here cannot tell you that. They only show what each car costs to buy, tax and insure, as listed.

How to read the figures

  • List prices are as listed on 10 October 2026 on a new-car price list, and include COE on that day. They are not today's prices. COE changes with each bidding exercise, and sellers can change their prices. Check the current figure with the seller.
  • Lowest premium today is the lowest quote on each car's price page for one standard driver. That driver is aged 40, married and has been driving for 10 to 19 years. They hold a 50% no-claim discount, the car is 3 years old, and the cover is comprehensive. Treat it as an example, not as what you will pay.
  • Road tax is shown against the motor's power in kW. Some models show two figures because their versions differ in power. For how road tax on an electric car is worked out, see LTA's OneMotoring site and our road tax guide.
  • Order: the cars run from the lowest premium today to the highest.

How to choose between them

Start with body type. Four of the eight are SUVs. Two are sedans, one is an MPV and one is a hatchback. If you need seven seats, only one car here was listed as a 7-seater.

Compare the version, not the model. Several cars have versions far apart in price and power. Compare the exact version you would buy, at its current price with COE.

Look at power and road tax together. On this list, the higher-power versions carry much higher road tax figures. The same model can sit in very different road tax bands. Confirm the figure for your version on OneMotoring before you commit.

Read the premiums as two groups. Five cars show lowest premiums today from S$8.43 to S$15.68. Three show figures from S$95.31 to S$114.53. These are for one standard driver only. Your age, driving record, no-claim discount and the car's age all change the quote. Our guide to the no-claim discount explains how that discount works.

Count the quotes. Between 16 and 23 insurers quote for each car here. More quotes give you more to compare on price and on what the policy covers.

Compare the cover, not just the price. Two policies at a similar price can differ a lot. Check:

  • the excess you pay on each claim, explained in our excess guide
  • whether repairs go to an authorised or any workshop, covered in authorised or any workshop
  • how the policy treats the battery and charging equipment
  • who else is allowed to drive the car

Our page on electric vs petrol car insurance sets out what can differ for an electric car.

Ask the seller. Ask for the price on the day, and what it includes. Ask how COE is handled if the bid fails. Ask what the warranty covers, including the battery, and for how long.

What these figures leave out

The facts here cover list price, road tax and one example premium. They do not cover charging costs, parking, ERP or servicing. They do not cover any rebates or surcharges that may apply to an electric car at registration. For those rules, check LTA's OneMotoring site.

If you live in an HDB estate, check whether your car park has chargers, and how many. That can matter as much as any figure on this page.

For how COE fits into the price of a new car, see our COE guide.
