This page sets out the BYD Atto 3 in numbers. These are the listed figures, not a road test. Each section starts with the figure, then says what it means for running the car in Singapore.

The figures at a glance

The new-car list carries one version of the BYD Atto 3. Here is what it shows, as listed on 10 October 2026:

  • Version: BYD Atto 3 Electric Evo 60.48 kWh
  • Body type: SUV
  • Made in: China
  • Motor: electric
  • Fuel: electricity, no petrol engine
  • Power: 134bhp
  • List price: S$184,888, including COE as listed that day

The list price is the figure on that date. It is not today's price. It moves with the COE premium and with the dealer's own pricing. Check the current figure before you compare.

The facts give no torque, acceleration, top speed or energy use figures. So none appear here.

One version, one power figure

Some models come in several versions, each with its own power output and price. On the list read for this page, the Atto 3 has one entry. That keeps the spec sheet short.

With only one version listed, there is no step up in power to compare within the model. The 134bhp figure is the one that sets the road tax below. If a version with a different battery or motor appears on the list later, its power and road tax would differ. Check its own figures on LTA's OneMotoring site.

The insurance price page prices the BYD ATTO 3 (electric), the version most insurers on it quote. It does not name the battery size. When you ask for a quote, give the exact version on your papers.

Power and the COE category

For electric cars, the COE category turns on motor power. The price page puts it this way. A fully electric BYD Atto 3 needs a Category A COE if its motor is 110kW (147bhp) or less. It needs a Category B COE if the motor is more powerful.

The COE premiums in the October 2026, 2nd round were:

  • Category A: S$132,004
  • Category B: S$131,901

In that round, the two premiums were close. That will not hold in every round. The category on your car's papers is the one that counts. Confirm it with the dealer and on OneMotoring before you sign. Our COE page has the latest results.

The rivals on the price page

The BYD Atto 3 price page sets it against six other electric cars. The facts do not give power figures or list prices for these rivals. So the comparison here is on insurance price only.

Each rival is priced for the same driver and car age. That driver is aged 40, married, with an office job, 10 years' driving and a 50% no-claim discount. The car is 3 years old, on comprehensive cover, with repairs at an authorised workshop.

Lowest premium today, lowest first:

The average lowest price of the six rivals is S$1,025.72. For this driver, the Atto 3 costs 23% less than that average. None of the six is lower to insure today.

The number of insurers matters too. The Atto 3 and the two Teslas each draw prices from 11 insurers. The Kia EV6 and the Mercedes-Benz EQA draw 6 each. More insurers quoting gives a driver more prices to compare.

These are today's examples for one stated driver. They are not what any reader will pay.

What the power costs in road tax

Road tax on an electric car is set by motor power, using LTA's formula. For the Atto 3's 134bhp (100kW) motor, the yearly road tax is S$1,501.56, before any age surcharge.

The facts give the road tax for this one power figure only. A more powerful electric motor pays more under the formula. The exact sum for another power output is not in the facts. Use the calculator on OneMotoring to work it out. Our road tax guide explains how the formula works.

Once a car passes 10 years old, a surcharge applies on top:

  • over 10 years: +10%
  • over 11 years: +20%
  • over 12 years: +30%
  • over 13 years: +40%
  • over 14 years: +50%

Most owners renew or replace a car before these bands apply. Those who renew the COE past 10 years will meet them.

How the insurance price moves

On the price page, 11 insurers price the Atto 3 for the stated driver. The lowest premium is S$789.73. The highest is S$2,072.07. That gap is S$1,282.34, or 162% more. So the same car can cost very different sums to insure.

The page also shows what happens when one detail changes. The lowest price moves like this:

  • Same driver, no NCD (0%): S$1,207.68, which is S$417.95 more, or 53% more
  • Same driver, 20% NCD: S$1,207.68, also S$417.95 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,207.68, also S$417.95 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 years' driving, 50% NCD: S$968.84, which is S$179.11 more
  • A new car, registered this year: S$1,010.90, which is S$221.17 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$776.18, which is S$13.55 less

Losing the no-claim discount makes the largest change of the six. Our guide to the no-claim discount sets out how it is earned and lost.

The page lists excess figures from S$600 to S$3,000 across the plans. A lower premium can come with a higher excess. Compare both numbers together. The car insurance excess guide explains what the excess means at claim time.

Seven insurers have no online price for the Atto 3 on the page. Some do not quote this model online yet. Some do not quote electric cars online. Others price only for repairs at any workshop.

What to check on the papers

Before comparing the Atto 3 with another car, line up the same figures for each:

  • the exact version name and battery size
  • the motor power in bhp and kW
  • the COE category on the papers
  • the list price, with the date it was listed
  • the yearly road tax for that power output
  • the lowest insurance price for your own details, and the excess that comes with it
